Movie
Description
Kō Seiya is the civilian identity and public persona of Sailor Star Fighter, a Sailor Guardian from the distant planet Kinmoku. After Shadow Galactica destroyed their home world, Seiya, along with fellow guardians Kou Taiki and Kou Yaten, traveled to Earth in search of their missing ruler, Princess Kakyuu. To avoid detection and to broadcast a telepathic signal through their music, they disguised themselves as the male idol group the Three Lights, with Seiya serving as the lead vocalist and guitarist. In the events of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos the Movie, they enroll at Juban High School alongside Usagi Tsukino and her friends, further embedding themselves in Earth society while continuing their mission.

On the surface, Seiya projects an arrogant and supremely confident demeanor, often showing off athletic skills or claiming to be admired by everyone at school. This outward bravado masks a deep sense of responsibility and a passionate, determined nature. Seiya is the natural leader of the Starlights, and while Taiki and Yaten sometimes view her as prone to childish antics, they generally follow her lead. Seiya’s primary motivation is to protect Princess Kakyuu and restore Kinmoku, but once on Earth, she becomes increasingly drawn to Usagi Tsukino. She develops strong romantic feelings for Usagi, calling her by the nickname "odango" and attempting to forge a close bond. This one-sided affection becomes a central emotional thread, as Seiya recognizes that her feelings are not fully reciprocated, yet she remains protective and caring.

In the story, Seiya and the Starlights initially keep their distance from the other Sailor Guardians, focusing solely on their own quest. Over time, however, Seiya’s interactions with Usagi force her to confront her own vulnerability and the painful ambiguity of her feelings. Her relationship with Princess Kakyuu is also layered; in some interpretations, her attraction to Usagi may mirror or even confuse deeper loyalty to her princess. Throughout the film, Seiya demonstrates both combat prowess and strategic thinking, fighting alongside Sailor Moon against Sailor Galaxia’s forces. As Sailor Star Fighter, she transforms with the phrase "Fighter Star Power, Make Up!" and wields the energy attack Star Serious Laser. Outside of combat, she is a star athlete, excelling in American football and other sports, which further distinguishes her at school.

Seiya’s development lies in learning to open up beyond her mission-driven exterior, acknowledging her own emotions, and ultimately accepting that her love for Usagi cannot change the course of Usagi’s heart. Despite the tragic losses suffered in the battle against Shadow Galactica, Seiya remains a fiercely loyal protector, willing to sacrifice everything for those she cares about. Her journey in the film underscores themes of devotion, identity, and the pain of unrequited love, all while she retains the bold, confident spirit that defines Sailor Star Fighter.
