Description
Princess Kakyuu, also known as Sailor Kakyuu, is a royal figure from the planet Kinmoku, where she holds the position of first princess of the Tankei Kingdom. She is both a monarch in training and a Sailor Guardian, able to transform into the warrior Sailor Kakyuu. Her long red-orange hair, deep red garments, and crown decorated with osmanthus flowers give her a distinctive and formal appearance befitting her royal status.

Her home world lay in the path of the Shadow Galactica as that empire moved toward Earth, and Kinmoku was invaded and destroyed by the forces of Sailor Galaxia. In the catastrophe, Princess Kakyuu lost her beloved betrothed, but she narrowly escaped, fleeing to Earth. She arrived in a severely weakened state and was discovered by the mysterious child Chibi-Chibi, who protected her and hid her inside an incense burner. While concealed within it, Kakyuu gradually recovered her strength, and she emerges once the Sailor Starlights, the three guardian Sailor Soldiers who served her, find the vessel and recognize their missing princess.

Her personality is marked by inner strength, wisdom, and a composed, dignified bearing. She is strong-willed yet flexible in her thinking, and she carries a heartfelt concern for her companions, showing warmth and a deeply caring nature even in dire circumstances. She has endured devastating loss, including the destruction of her planet and the death of the person she loved, but she does not give in to despair. Instead, she remains focused on the larger threat facing the galaxy and on protecting those who still stand with her.

In the story, Princess Kakyuu functions as both a survivor and an ally to Sailor Moon. After revealing herself, she warns Sailor Moon that Sailor Galaxia intends to seize the Sailor Crystals of warriors across the galaxy, with particular interest in the powerful Silver Moon Crystal belonging to Sailor Moon. She also reveals that Chibi-Chibi is herself a Sailor Guardian. When Sailor Moon resolves to confront Galaxia and recover the crystals of her fallen friends, Kakyuu agrees to help, joining Sailor Moon, the Starlights, and Chibi-Chibi as they travel to the home bases of the outer Sailor Guardians and then on to Galaxia's stronghold.

Her most significant relationships are with the Sailor Starlights, who act as her loyal guardians and search the Earth for her throughout the early part of the story, and with Chibi-Chibi, who shelters her during her time of weakness. She also forms a bond of trust with Sailor Moon, standing beside her as an ally and supporting her resolve to restore the warriors who have been lost. After the Starlights are killed by the servants of Galaxia, Kakyuu is persuaded by Sailor Moon that the fallen could be revived if their Sailor Crystals are reclaimed, and she continues to fight toward that goal. During a later battle with Galaxia's enforcers, Sailor Phi and Sailor Chi, Kakyuu is fatally wounded. Her last words express the wish to be reborn one day in a world without war.

As a Sailor Guardian, Princess Kakyuu is said to possess power comparable to that of Princess Serenity, and she has the ability to use healing powers. She transforms with the phrase Kinmoku Star Power, Make Up, and in battle she wields attacks known as Starlight Royal Straight Flush and Kinmoku Fusion Tempest. Her arc is defined by perseverance in the face of total personal loss, a commitment to her people and her guardians, and a final act of courage that carries her through to the end of the conflict even at the cost of her own life.
