Description
Hajime Fujiwara, known by the epithet Merciless Outsider, is a character from the 2014 live-action film Crows Explode. He is introduced as a former student of Kurosaki Industrial High School who has since left the world of delinquent factions to become a recruit for the local Nara crime syndicate. His background includes a criminal record, as an assault incident during his school days led to a prison sentence, an event that became a defining source of resentment for him. Fujiwara holds a particularly bitter grudge against Hiroki Shibata, the head of Kurosaki Industrial, due to the circumstances surrounding the incident that put him behind bars.

In terms of personality, Fujiwara embodies a cunning and ruthless nature, contrasting with the often honor-bound code of the student delinquents. He is manipulative and strategic, willing to use underhanded methods to achieve his goals. This is most evident in his fighting style, as he does not hesitate to fight dirty, aiming to incapacitate opponents with cheap shots rather than relying on sheer strength or skill. His motivations are largely driven by revenge against Shibata and his desire to disrupt the established order of the rival high schools, particularly Suzuran. As a member of the Nara Gang, he also acts on orders to clear out local businesses, such as the Nakata auto dealership, using intimidation and arson to force them out of the way for redevelopment projects.

Fujiwara's role in the story is that of a primary antagonist and a catalyst for conflict. He deliberately provokes a war between the students of Suzuran All-Boys High School and the motorcycle team O.D.A., aiming to destabilize Suzuran from within and draw out his target, Shibata. He works in close partnership with Ryohei Kagami, a powerful and similarly ruthless first-year student at Suzuran. Together, they escalate the violence, with Fujiwara acting as a dangerous connection between the organized crime world and the volatile student factions. One of his key actions includes brutally defeating Shibata in a fight and breaking his arm, solidifying his role as a formidable physical threat.

Fujiwara experiences a notable moment of development late in the narrative. After setting fire to the Nakata auto shop and engaging in a decisive clash against the Suzuran fighter Toru Goura, he is confronted once more by a battered but determined Hiroki Shibata. Seeing the burns on Shibata’s body that he himself had caused, Fujiwara acknowledges his own culpability and admits that he deserved punishment for his actions. In a rare moment of contrition, he offers an apology to his former rival and retreats from the fight, breaking away from the cycle of vengeance that had been driving him.

Regarding notable abilities, Fujiwara is a capable and aggressive fighter, though his effectiveness comes more from his brutality and lack of scruples than from technical skill. He is shown to be strong enough to defeat a skilled fighter like Hiroki Shibata and can hold his own against others. However, his most defining ability is his willingness to fight dirty, as demonstrated when he kicks an opponent in the groin to gain the upper hand in a fight. His true strength lies in his strategic mind, as he successfully orchestrates a large-scale conflict between rival schools and a motorcycle gang to serve his personal vendetta.
