Description
Oliga Calmeria, also romanized as Origa Carmelia, is a supporting character in the anime The Fruit of Evolution: Before I Knew It, My Life Had It Made, appearing during the second season. She is a young beastkin girl of black cat lineage, with short black hair and orange eyes, and she operates as an assassin under the epithet Twilight Assassin.
Her background is rooted in hardship. Before the events of the story, she lived as a slave, and she later became an assassin, a path that sent her into the Ranze kingdom with the mission of assassinating King Winburg. She attempted to carry out the task by placing a curse on the king, and it was while fleeing the royal castle after doing so that she first crossed paths with Seiichi Hiiragi. That encounter did not go as she expected. Seiichi not only saw through her attack but overpowered her and captured her, leaving her astonished.
As a person, Oliga is a serious and capable fighter, yet she also has a gentle side. In relation to the protagonist, she occupies a little-sister-like position, and after being taken in by Seiichi, she becomes loyal and affectionate toward him. The contrast between her dangerous profession and her warm attachment to the people who accept her is central to her character.
Her motivations shift as the story progresses. Initially, her driving goal is the assassination of King Winburg, a mission shaped by her past as a former slave. After Seiichi defeats her and welcomes her into his circle, her purpose turns toward supporting him and standing by those who have given her a place to belong, with Seiichi gradually filling an older-brother role in her life. Over time she develops from a wary, solitary assassin into a more trusting and expressive girl, gaining the close bonds her earlier life never offered.
In the story, she functions as an antagonist turned ally. Her capture introduces her to Seiichi's group, and she joins the party as a stealth specialist, adding a former enemy to the protagonist's side. Her presence also contributes to the family-like dynamic that gathers around Seiichi during the second season.
Her key relationships grow out of that dynamic. The strongest bond is with Seiichi, beginning with her defeat and maturing into a sibling-like connection. She also becomes part of the wider group that includes Seiichi's other companions, such as Saria, and she stands alongside them as a trusted ally. Her connection to King Winburg remains tied to the mission that originally brought her into the story.
In terms of abilities, Oliga is a trained assassin with stealth and close-combat skills suited to striking unseen. Her beastkin nature gives her catlike traits that complement her agility. She also wields a curse technique, which she used against her royal target, and this power nearly allowed her to complete the assassination before her capture. Her epithet, Twilight Assassin, reflects her reputation as one who moves and kills from the shadows.
