Description
Akito Miyake is a student in Class D at the Advanced Nurturing High School, holding the student number S01T004700 and born on July 13th. His background before entering the school is marked by a significant contrast. During middle school, he was considered a delinquent, frequently getting into quarrels and conflicts that led to counseling sessions and even police involvement. This period of rowdiness was partly fueled by his intense focus on archery, a sport he became passionate about after seeing it on television, which led him to neglect his studies and other responsibilities. He grew up in the same hostile area as notable figures like Kakeru Ryuen and Kazuomi Hosen, and he recalls an incident where Hosen severely beat the leader of his school's gang. These past actions and academic neglect are the primary reasons for his placement in the defective Class D.

In terms of personality, Akito has evolved significantly from his middle school days. He is now characterized as a reserved, calm, and solitary individual who prefers to keep his distance from large groups and avoid initiating conflict. Despite his quiet demeanor, he possesses a straightforward and honest attitude. He is not easily intimidated, showing no fear towards aggressive personalities like Kakeru Ryuen or Daichi Ishizaki, and is always ready to step in to stop a fight if necessary. His loyalty is a defining trait, especially towards the small circle of friends he deeply trusts, having found a sense of belonging within the Ayanokoji Group.

Akito's motivations are primarily driven by his personal relationships and his desire to protect those close to him. He values the comfort and lack of pressure to change that he finds within his friend group. His most profound motivation becomes clear through his feelings for Haruka Hasebe, whom he has grown to love. He is willing to go to great lengths for her, including planning to leave the school to support her quest for revenge, stating that his feelings will not allow him to let her go alone.

His role in the story becomes prominent starting from the sixth volume of the light novel, where he formally joins a study group with Haruka Hasebe, Teruhiko Yukimura, and Kiyotaka Ayanokoji, which later expands to include Airi Sakura to form the core of the Ayanokoji Group. He serves as a reliable and physically capable member of this group. During the Mixed Training Camp exam, he demonstrates initiative by accepting the marginalized Kakeru Ryuen into his team under specific conditions. He also acts as a potential mediator, positioning himself to intervene if a physical altercation breaks out. A pivotal moment in his story arc occurs during the unanimous special exam, where he vehemently opposes Haruka's plan to sacrifice herself to save Airi Sakura, prioritizing Haruka's well-being. Following Airi's expulsion, he supports the grieving and vengeful Haruka, even agreeing to leave the school with her, though this is ultimately prevented by Kiyotaka and Kikyo Kushida. After the cultural festival, he reconciles with his classmates and shows increased maturity.

His key relationships are central to his character. He harbors unrequited romantic feelings for Haruka Hasebe but hesitates to confess, fearing it will disrupt the group's harmony. He shares a deep bond of friendship with Kiyotaka Ayanokoji. Unlike others who may be suspicious of Kiyotaka's hidden abilities, Akito accepts him easily and does not hold a grudge against him following Airi Sakura's expulsion, showing his open-minded and forgiving nature. He relies on Teruhiko Yukimura for academic support, and their friendship, though strained during the crisis with Haruka, is eventually mended. He also has a notable, if distant, connection to Kakeru Ryuen, as they attended neighboring middle schools, and he is one of the few who does not fear him.

Akito possesses several notable abilities. He is a highly skilled archer, having joined the club in middle school and participated in competitions at the prefectural level. He is a valuable asset during sports festivals and other physical competitions. His physical ability is rated B on the OAA, placing him among the top athletes in his class, behind only Ken Sudo and Yosuke Hirata. His past experience as a delinquent has also made him a capable fighter, confident in his ability to defend himself and others. Academically, his performance is uneven; he excels in Science and Math but struggles in subjects like World History and Language, though he can study hard enough to avoid failing. His academic pattern is very similar to that of Haruka Hasebe.
