TV-Series
Description
Faye, also known as Fai, is a character introduced as a member of the Element Four, the elite special forces serving the criminal overlord Drakkhen Joe. He is a young man of average height with disheveled orange hair and matching orange eyes. His distinctive appearance includes an eyepatch covering his right eye, a pair of black gloves that feature flame designs extending up his forearms, and a tribal-style necklace. He wears loose black trousers printed with white flames, suspenders that form an X shape across his torso, and light-colored boots.
Faye possesses a sadistic personality, taking genuine pleasure in causing suffering to others. This trait is clearly demonstrated during his confrontation with Hermit, where he expresses curiosity about whether an android can feel pain and seems to delight in the prospect of finding out. He also exhibits great enjoyment in firing upon targets from extreme long distances, a practice he excels at due to his Ether Gear abilities. His sadism is further displayed when he gleefully laughs at the screams of an injured opponent and becomes irritated when that opponent loses consciousness, as he had wanted to hear more of their suffering.
Within the story, Faye's primary role is as an antagonist and a skilled sniper. He is summoned by Drakkhen Joe alongside the other members of the Element Four with the mission to capture Shiki Granbell, Homura Kōgetsu, Wise Steiner, and Pino. He proves to be a serious threat, adept at taking down targets from concealment. At one point, he tracks down Wise at a bar and, despite the owner's objections, kills the bartender before capturing his target. Following the orders of Drakkhen Joe, he also carries out the brutal act of severing one of Wise's arms, laughing at the resulting cry of pain.
Faye's most significant relationship in the story is with Hermit, one of the Four Shining Stars of the Edens Zero crew. Their conflict begins when Hermit hacks and destroys Faye's sniper rifle as the Element Four prepare to attack the Edens Zero ship. This leads to a one-on-one battle between them. During their fight, Faye uses his fire-based abilities and his skill as a sniper, trying to overwhelm Hermit by exploiting what he believes is a machine's weakness to intense heat. However, Hermit ultimately defeats him by outsmarting him. She explains that Faye's body temperature is higher than average, making him easily detectable by the thermal sensors and infrared cameras that are standard in modern machines, a fact that renders his chosen profession as a sniper ill-suited for him. After locating him, she traps him and uses her hacking abilities to turn a network of firearms against him. Faye's development is limited to this arc, as the timeline is later reset by another character's power, effectively undoing the events and his actions during this period.
Faye's notable abilities stem from his unique Ether Gear known as Flame Amo, which allows him to generate and control fire. He primarily uses this power to enhance his sniping, infusing his bullets with fire element to create incendiary rounds that can cause a victim's body to explode upon impact. He is portrayed as an exceptionally precise marksman, capable of hitting targets from vast distances and claiming he never misses. Beyond his offensive firepower, Faye can also transform his entire body into a small flame. This ability provides him with a unique mobility option, allowing him to move through tight spaces such as ventilation ducts to escape or reposition during combat.
