TV-Series
Description
Elsie, also known as the Armored Space Pirate, is a prominent figure in the cosmos and a member of the Oración Seis Galáctica, a group of the six most powerful and notorious outlaws in the universe. She captains the Skull Fairy and leads a vast fleet of space pirates. Her real name is Elsie Le Lendard, as she was originally a princess of the kingdom of Lendard in the Kaede Cosmos. As a child, she was betrothed to Prince James Holloway as part of a political union. However, she became disillusioned with her kingdom’s obsession with weapons development, which she saw as a threat to the galaxy. In an attempt to stop her parents’ brutal plans, she leaked the kingdom’s military secrets to others. This act, while well-intentioned, inadvertently sparked a devastating civil war that destroyed both her kingdom and that of her fiancé, forcing her into exile as a homeless refugee.
Elsie’s life changed when she was rescued by the robotic Demon King Ziggy and his crew aboard the spaceship Edens Zero. During her time on the ship, she formed close bonds with Ziggy and the Four Shining Stars, the ship’s android guardians, and cared for an infant Shiki Granbell, even changing his diapers. When Ziggy decided to stay on the planet Granbell with the baby Shiki, he entrusted his old ship, the Edens Zero, to Elsie. He asked her to keep it safe and deliver it to Shiki when he was old enough to journey into space. After her crew went their separate ways, Elsie found herself unable to effectively operate the advanced ship. Facing resource shortages, she began stealing supplies from spaceports, which led to her unintended and growing reputation as a pirate. She eventually amassed her own fleet, became captain of the Skull Fairy, and earned her place among the Oración Seis Galáctica.
In personality, Elsie is a roguish, good-spirited, and thrill-seeking individual who loves excitement. She often engages in mischief and enjoys playfully terrorizing her captives, but her actions come from a place of good-natured fun rather than genuine malice. She is known to add a degree of challenge to otherwise boring situations, such as when she battled Shiki for possession of the Edens Zero simply to test his abilities. Despite her pirate lifestyle, she adheres to a strong personal code of honor. She is driven by a profound sense of loyalty to Ziggy, faithfully following his request to deliver his ship to Shiki out of a debt of gratitude for saving her life. She regards him as a very good friend and is deeply saddened and disbelieving when he is resurrected as a villain, becoming determined to stop him.
Elsie’s motivations are deeply tied to her past. She carries immense guilt over the war that destroyed her home planet, a tragedy she caused in an attempt to prevent a greater evil. This has shaped her into a morally gray figure who believes that time together creates family and values the bonds forged in adversity. Her complicated history is most palpable in her relationship with Justice, the alias of her former fiancé, James Holloway. He bears an intense, bitter hatred for her, blaming her for the war that ruined their lives. Elsie, in contrast, treats their rivalry more playfully, though she is resigned to the fact that he may never forgive her. Their interactions are laced with unresolved tension, and they have a history of fighting each other while also displaying lingering affection.
Throughout the story, Elsie serves as a powerful ally and occasional rival to Shiki and the crew of the Edens Zero. After intercepting Shiki’s group, she initially pretends to be a captor to evaluate him. Once he proves himself, she fulfills her promise to Ziggy by giving him the Edens Zero. She later aids the crew by fending off the Interstellar Union Army, led by Justice, to allow them to escape. As Ziggy’s threat grows, she joins forces with Shiki and shares vital information about his past and her time on the original Edens Zero.
Elsie is an extraordinarily powerful warrior, a status befitting a member of the Oración Seis Galáctica. Her primary ability is an Ether Gear known as Star Drain, which allows her to absorb the Ether energy from a planet and forge it into powerful weapons and armor. With this power, she can create an Ether cutlass, a spear named Antares, or even environmental armor. Her offensive capabilities include projecting devastating energy blasts, with one of her most potent attacks being Grand Chariot, which summons destructive pillars of light. Her ultimate technique, Solar Eclipse, draws enough power to leave even the Demon King Ziggy on the defensive. She has also demonstrated incredible physical prowess, effortlessly catching an Ether blade with her bare toes and throwing an opponent across a room. However, her power is not without limits, as she becomes vulnerable if her access to Ether is blocked or if she is physically restrained. Elsie’s character arc is marked by tragedy; she ultimately stays behind on her doomed home planet of Lendard as it is consumed by a Chronophage, accepting her fate alongside Justice.
