Description
Angol Moa is a character from the anime and manga series Keroro. She is a female member of the Angol tribe, which has an alliance with the Keronian military. As the daughter of the Angol tribe's chief, she holds the title of the second-generation "King of Terror" and also serves as a communications officer. Her name is derived from "Angolmois," a term found in the prophecies of Nostradamus, and she was originally meant to be the entity that descends from the sky to bring about a great cataclysm.
In terms of background, Angol Moa is over two thousand years old by Earth's reckoning. She was sent to Earth with the mission of destroying the planet, following a prophecy. Due to a misunderstanding of time, she arrived five years later than intended. Upon her arrival, she was persuaded by Sergeant Keroro to abandon her original mission, and she subsequently decided to live on Earth and assist the Keroro Platoon with their invasion plans. Her appearance on Earth is not her true form. She modeled her human-like appearance after a Japanese high school girl she encountered, but a blow to the head during her landing caused her personality to shift from that of a rebellious delinquent to a gentle and well-mannered individual.
Personality-wise, Angol Moa is generally portrayed as a kind, cheerful, and somewhat clumsy girl who is eager to help. She has a very warm and respectful demeanor, especially towards Keroro, whom she affectionately calls "uncle" because they played together when she was younger. A distinct verbal tic is her frequent use of the phrase "teiuka" (meaning "that is to say") followed by a four-character idiom, which she often misuses in a lighthearted way. Despite her gentle nature, she carries the inherent instincts of a planet destroyer. She has expressed a conflicted fascination with destroying things in a beautiful way, and her hobby includes observing active geological fault lines on Earth.
Her primary motivation shifts from planetary destruction to a desire to be helpful to Keroro and his team. She actively takes on household chores at the Hinata residence, assists with the Platoon's communication and technological operations in their secret base, and frequently joins in their schemes, often with pure-hearted enthusiasm. She also harbors a deep, unspoken affection and loyalty towards Keroro, often acting on his behalf.
Angol Moa's role in the story is that of a major supporting character who has functionally become a member of the Keroro Platoon. She serves as a stark contrast to the other characters due to her immense power and her earnest, innocent personality. Within the group, she has several key relationships. She holds a deep respect and adoration for Keroro, which creates a rivalry with Tamama, who is also very attached to Keroro. Tamama often reacts with jealousy and hostility towards Moa, though Moa herself remains oblivious and treats Tamama kindly. She is also notable for being the only person that the cynical and manipulative Kururu is afraid of, as her pure-hearted and sincere nature unnerves him. She develops a close friendship with Natsumi Hinata, the daughter of the household she lives in, and the two often work together or support one another.
Throughout the series, Angol Moa shows minimal character development in terms of personality, as she remains consistently kind and supportive. However, her development is seen in her deepening bonds with the inhabitants of Earth and her growing understanding of human relationships. She evolves from a being solely focused on her duty of destruction to someone who values friendship and daily life on a planet she was meant to annihilate.
Her notable abilities are exceptionally powerful, making her one of the strongest characters in the series. In her true form, she has the power to destroy planets with her signature technique, the "Armageddon Attack". She can precisely control the power of this attack using fractions, allowing her to dial its destructive force from cracking open a door down to shattering an entire planet. Her weapon, the Lucifer Spear, usually takes the form of a cell phone; by entering a specific password, it transforms into its true shape. The spear has two sides, one representing destruction and the other, rebirth. When executing a full planetary judgment, she can transform into a more powerful "second form" that has a more revealing outfit and allows for even greater attacks, such as the "Apocrypha Armageddon," which can destroy dimensions. In her true form, she can survive and move freely in the vacuum of space without any need for oxygen, food, or protection from extreme temperatures or pressures. Her only known weaknesses are a rare substance known as Angol Stone, which can seal her powers, and the well-being of Keroro, which can emotionally destabilize her.
