Description
Pyunpyunmaru Akimoto is a supporting character in Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo. He is the father of Reiko Katherine Akimoto, one of the police officers stationed at the Kameari Park police box, and the president of the Akimoto Trading Zaibatsu, a large business conglomerate based in Kobe. His position as the head of this trading group places him among the wealthier figures associated with the series, and his existence helps establish the privileged family background from which Reiko comes. In his appearances, Pyunpyunmaru is most notable for his tendency to make remarks that put his daughter in awkward or embarrassing situations. Reiko is frequently shown either visibly embarrassed by his statements or trying to remove herself from the discomfort his words create. That pattern defines his role in the story, as he appears mainly as a recurring family member whose behavior generates comedy through the contrast with Reiko's usually composed and elegant manner. His primary relationship is with Reiko, and it is through her that he connects to the rest of the cast, though those connections remain centered on family matters rather than the police work that occupies the main characters. His appearances are limited to this family dynamic, and he functions as a minor recurring figure whose main contribution is the humorous father-daughter interaction he creates with Reiko.
