Shinya Ōwada

Shinya Owada is a Japanese actor, voice actor, and narrator born on October 25, 1947, in Tsuruga, Fukui, Japan. He is represented by the Horipro Booking Agency and has been active in the entertainment industry since the 1970s.
Owada has contributed to numerous anime television series and films. In the 2003 series Astro Boy, he voiced the characters Dr. Tenma and Shadow. His work in anime films includes the role of Goa in Black Jack: The Two Doctors of Darkness and King Bimbisara in Buddha 2: Tezuka Osamu no Buddha - Owarinaki Tabi. He also voiced the character Cyrano in Pokémon Horizons: The Series.
Beyond animation, Owada is known for his work in Japanese dubbing. He is the long-standing Japanese voice of Mufasa in The Lion King, providing his voice for both the original 1994 animated film and the 2019 computer-animated remake. He also voiced the character Hollander in the video game Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and its 2022 remaster, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion.
His career also encompasses a wide range of live-action roles in Japanese television dramas and films. Notable television credits include the asadora Ai yori Aoku, the long-running historical drama Mito Kōmon, and the asadora Come Come Everybody.
