Description
In the anime Gridman Universe, Borr is a member of a covert group known as the Neon Genesis Junior High Students, who function as sentient support units for the hyper agent Gridman. These beings are embodiments of fragments of Gridman's own consciousness that became independent. Borr, in particular, originates from the Hyper World and manifests in the human world with a small, androgynous form. Standing at only 133 centimeters tall and weighing 32 kilograms, he has an appearance that is often mistaken for a young girl, featuring orange hair styled into two low pigtails and blue eyes. This youthful appearance is contrasted by his typical attire, which consists of a gray shirt, black tie, a black buttoned vest, and a black jacket adorned with a gold brooch.

Borr's personality is sharply defined by his sassy, outspoken, and brash demeanor. Despite his small stature, he is arguably the most combative and confrontational member of his group, often described as a snarky showoff who is confident in his abilities. He is quick to express irritation, particularly at the antics of his human allies like Sho Utsumi, whom he frequently kicks in the shins as a form of reprimand or to get a point across. This behavior is part of a recurring dynamic where he acts as a gruff, almost bullying older brother figure who is nonetheless observant and often more helpful than he initially appears. He uses the masculine pronoun ore and has been confirmed to be male, despite his feminine visual design. His brash exterior also conceals a sharp wit and a keen eye for detail, as he is quick to notice suspicious behavior that others might miss.

Borr's primary function and motivation are tied to his role as an Assist Weapon. In times of emergency, he activates his transformation by shouting his access code, Buster Borr, morphing from his humanoid form into a futuristic yellow and white twin-drill tank. In this mode, he possesses a versatile arsenal of missiles. This includes standard missiles for damage, Forest Extinguisher Missiles that burst into water to put out fires, and Sydney Super Adhesive Missiles that fire a pink, hardening goo to immobilize enemies. Despite being a tank equipped with powerful drills, his primary combat method ironically relies on long-range firepower, a fact that his allies sometimes tease him about. Even in his human form, Borr displays superhuman physical abilities and wields a jagged survival knife called the Scrap Maker Dagger.

Within the story's narrative, Borr serves as a direct combat support unit for Gridman. His key relationships are with his fellow Neon Genesis Junior High Students Max, Vit, and Samurai Calibur, as well as with the human protagonist Sho Utsumi. He is often assigned to act as Utsumi's bodyguard, and their relationship is marked by a constant, comedic friction where Borr's frustration with Utsumi's behavior leads to physical gags like the signature shin-kick. Borr also has a close tactical bond with Gridman, combining with him to form the armed combination Buster Gridman. In this fused state, Borr's components become additional armor and powerful artillery, enhancing Gridman's durability and firepower with attacks like the Twin Buster Grid Beam.

Borr's role evolves and expands in Gridman Universe. When dimensional boundaries begin to collapse and new kaiju threats emerge, Borr returns from the Hyper World alongside his companions to aid Gridman and the reformed Gridman Alliance. In this film, his role is not limited to his previous functions. He participates in new, more complex combinations, merging with other characters to form Powered Knight Zenon and even joining with Gridknight to become Full Power Gridknight. His most notable contribution in the film is transforming into the chest armor component for the super combination, Universe Full Power Gridman, demonstrating his integral role in the final battle against the entity known as Mad Origin. This showcases his development from a simple support weapon into a critical piece of the most powerful form of Gridman, cementing his role as an indispensable ally in the face of a multiversal threat.
