Renge stands among the Hachibushu, eight mystical warriors defending the celestial realm Tenkūkai and its leader, Vishnu, against the destructive Asura Gods. As the sole female member, she persistently asserts her combat prowess and superiority, often in reaction to the group's gender dynamics. Her heritage traces to the Nara clan, masters of manipulating Sohma, the fundamental spiritual energy powering their abilities. Her defining narrative is an intense, one-sided devotion to Indrah, Vishnu's highest advisor. This blinding loyalty compels her to follow him after his betrayal of Vishnu, despite witnessing his corruption and malice. She actively participates in framing Shurato and Hyūga for Vishnu's petrification and battles fellow Hachibushu opposing Indrah. In these conflicts, she confronts Hyūga, who harbors unreciprocated feelings for her, and dismisses the affections of another admirer, Mari'ichi. In battle, she wields a rose-shaped dagger that transforms into a whip and channels Sohma through techniques like "Nāra's Lonely Flower" (Nāra Musō-ka) and "Nāra's Crimson Spiritual Petals" (Nāra Shurei-ka). Her Shakti armor draws inspiration from the Kinnara, interpreted as unicorn-like or angelic beings, reflecting her floral motifs. A pivotal shift occurs as she gradually recognizes the futility of her blind allegiance to Indrah. Facing the irreversible consequences of his treachery and her own complicity, she reaches a state of resignation. This culminates in her deliberate choice to be defeated by Hyūga during their confrontation, accepting her freezing and death as a path to peace. Vishnu later resurrects her, allowing her to rejoin the Hachibushu, now realigned against the Asura threat. Post-resurrection, she contributes to collective efforts opposing evil forces, including later conflicts against entities like Shiva, the Goddess of Destruction, and engagements depicted in subsequent OVA storylines, such as collaborative assaults on adversary strongholds. Her relationships remain marked by her initial obsessive love for Indrah, overshadowing others' feelings. Following her resurrection and realignment, she functions alongside former adversaries within the unified Hachibushu.
