Description
Nott is a supporting character encountered by the protagonist Pig and his companion Jess in the village of Bapsas. He is a young hunter, physically described as a handsome man with short orange hair and blue eyes. His outward demeanor is often blunt and direct, which can make him seem abrupt or unfriendly at first. However, beneath this exterior, he is an earnest and dependable person who takes his responsibilities seriously. Nott displays a calm and sharp-minded disposition, qualities that make him a skilled dual-blade hunter and a reliable guide. He is one of the few people who does not shun the Yesma, the discriminated social group to which Jess belongs, and he accepts their existence without prejudice. This open-mindedness stems from his personal history: in the past, he fell in love with a Yesma woman named Eise, an experience that shaped his tolerant and protective views. His motivations are largely rooted in a sense of duty and personal conviction. He chooses to offer guidance and protection to Pig and Jess as they journey toward the royal capital, proving himself to be their most steadfast and capable ally. Nott does not undergo a dramatic transformation over the course of the story, but his presence provides stability and practical support, and his willingness to stand beside those who are marginalized reinforces the themes of acceptance and loyalty. His notable abilities lie in his combat proficiency with dual blades and his keen survival instincts as a hunter, which he uses to shield his companions from danger.
