Description
Maeda is a student at Asahiyama High School. He is first seen as a second-year classmate of Ichika Nakano, and later, in his third year, shares a class with Fuutarou Uesugi and all five Nakano quintuplets. He has slicked-back brown hair and sharp eyes that give him a delinquent-like appearance, but his personality is far more straightforward and warm-hearted than his looks suggest.

During a school camping trip, Maeda develops a crush on Ichika and plans to ask her to the campfire dance, believing in the local legend that couples who hold hands at the fire will be together. However, the girl he approaches is actually Miku, who is disguised as Ichika. This misunderstanding creates initial friction between Maeda and Fuutarou, but over time the two boys develop a genuine friendship. Maeda ultimately moves on from his feelings for Ichika and begins a relationship with a female classmate named Matsui, who had been his partner during the same campfire event. By the time of Fuutarou and Yotsuba’s wedding, Maeda and Matsui are married and expecting their first child, attending the ceremony as a couple.

Throughout the story, Maeda’s role is that of a supportive classmate and one of Fuutarou’s first close male friends. He is also shown to be perceptive and loyal: he once helped Fuutarou by secretly taking recent pictures of the quintuplets as a surprise gift. His motivations revolve around personal connection and steady growth rather than grand ambitions. He evolves from a slightly aggressive, romantically clumsy young man into a dependable husband and friend, embodying a more ordinary but fulfilling path alongside the central narrative. While he does not possess any exceptional abilities, his notable traits include a blunt honesty, a capacity for self-reflection, and the quiet determination to build his own happiness.
