Description
Aki Kisaragi is a central character in the Tekkaman Blade narrative, serving as the heart and anchor of the Space Knights team. She is a young woman of nineteen years with a slender build, standing at 160 centimeters, and is recognized by her green eyes and dark blue or light green hair. Her role within the Space Knights is that of a combat operator and the navigator of their primary vessel, the Blue Earth, which places her frequently on the front lines of the conflict against the alien Radam.

Her background is marked by tragedy and loss. Her hometown was overrun and consumed by the invasive Radam forests, an event that instilled in her a powerful, almost tenacious drive to fight back. Having grown up in an orphanage following the death of her parents, Aki developed a strong, independent, and resilient personality. Colleagues often describe her as having a short fuse, and she is known for her proficiency in hand-to-hand combat, a skill she wields with notable ferocity.

The course of her life changes forever when she discovers D-Boy, a mysterious amnesiac with the power to transform into the armored warrior Tekkaman Blade, after one of his early battles. From their first encounter, Aki shows him a unique kindness and deep interest, becoming his most steadfast ally and emotional support. She is one of the few people who can reach him, able to pull him back from the brink when the immense power of the Tekkaman system threatens to consume his sanity. Her empathy for his solitary battle transforms into a deep, unspoken affection, bringing out a more vulnerable and feminine side of her character. She often finds herself acting as a bridge between D-Boy and the rest of humanity, fiercely defending him when others, like the soldier Balzac, accuse him of being a monster.

Aki's role in the story expands significantly in the events of Missing Link, which takes place two years after the initial Radam war. During this period, she devotes herself to caring for D-Boy, who has been left in a catatonic, vegetative state as a result of his final battles. When a new wave of Radam threatens Earth and their psychic call causes D-Boy further agony, putting his life at risk, Aki takes drastic action. She forces the team's scientist, Freeman, aside and volunteers to become the first Earth-made Tekkaman, a test subject in an experiment to reverse-engineer the Radam's technology. Her motivation is solely to save D-Boy, a desperate act born of love and frustration.

Her transformation into Tekkaman Aki, codenamed Red Devil or Ruby Devil, is successful, but the results are traumatic. Her new form is a transitional, incomplete version of a Tekkaman. It lacks the devastating Voltekka energy attack and requires the support of a new unit, Pegas II, for flight, transformation, and weapon generation. Her primary weapons are a Tech Lancer and a Tech Whip, and she relies heavily on close-quarters combat. The most painful consequence, however, is D-Boy's reaction. When she returns to him in her armored form, he recoils in fear, a rejection that devastates her and causes her immense psychological distress, leading her to go rogue for a time.

Despite this personal crisis, Aki's resolve does not break. She eventually returns to face the ultimate threat: D-Boy himself. The Radam reassert control over him, reformatting his mind and turning Tekkaman Blade into an enemy of humanity. In a climactic confrontation, Aki fights and defeats the corrupted Blade, an act that successfully restores his memories and personality. This victory cements her role as not just a support member but a true hero and savior in her own right.

Following this, Aki becomes the new commander of the reconstructed Space Knights, a position she holds by the time of the sequel, Tekkaman Blade II. Her journey is one of immense personal sacrifice, transforming from a tough but emotionally open navigator into a powerful warrior and leader. She is defined by her unyielding loyalty and her willingness to sacrifice her own humanity to protect the man she loves, ultimately becoming the key figure in both his downfall and his salvation. Her abilities as Tekkaman Aki are formidable, primarily in close combat, making her a peerless fighter despite the limitations of her incomplete armor system.
