TV-Series
Description
Amo Tsukihiko is an S-Rank agent within the Border organization, a position he holds as the user of a unique and unnamed Black Trigger. This powerful weapon was originally created by Tetsuya Umesaki, a former member of Old Border, and Amo was found to be highly compatible with it not long after achieving B-Rank himself. He is a native of Mikado City and joined Border approximately three years prior to the main events of the story.
In terms of appearance, Amo is a young boy of sixteen years with a pale complexion and a light tan. He has messy, neck-length black hair and narrow, grey-yellow eyes. His casual attire typically consists of a white hoodie, blue jeans, and red shoes.
Amo possesses a personality that is considered troublesome by Border's leadership, including the administrator Katsumi Karasawa, who notes that his behavior could become a liability for the organization if it were to become public knowledge. He is a thorough individual, as demonstrated when he destroyed a large portion of the Forbidden Zone while eliminating Trion soldiers. He seems to have a genuine enjoyment of challenges and finds weak opponents boring, preferring to fight those who are strong. His design concept, according to the author, is that of an abandoned dog.
His primary motivation appears to be the pursuit of strong opponents, as he is easily bored by those who do not pose a challenge. His role in the story is that of a nearly unrivaled asset whose sheer power makes him a last resort for Border. Masamune Kido once threatened to deploy him to capture Yuma Kuga, a prospect that caused great concern among other high-ranking agents due to Amo's strength and unpredictable nature. During the Large-Scale Invasion arc, he was deployed to the southern area of the city to eliminate Trion soldiers, an area he proceeded to obliterate. He defeated three Rabbit-class Trion soldiers, referring to them as small fry, and subsequently received a special service award for his actions. Later, during Galopoula's invasion, his unique abilities were recommended for use by Haruaki Azuma to help assess the threat.
Amo shares a good relationship with his fellow S-Rank agent, Yuichi Jin. The two have been called Black Trigger buddies, and Amo fulfilled a request from Jin without much complaint. He was also seen enjoying some of Jin's rice crackers with a blissful expression. He is also known to like water, hamburgers, and chocolate.
Amo wields a Black Trigger that is classified as a power-type, contrasting with Jin's Fūjin, which is considered a trick-type that relies on finesse. His raw power is noted by Karasawa to be superior to Jin's, and his overall combat ability is considered at least equal. However, as Masafumi Shinoda points out, deploying Amo almost guarantees the destruction of the surrounding city. Before obtaining his Black Trigger, he was a highly skilled All-Rounder who occasionally went on defense missions using a normal trigger. In the official parameters, his normal trigger abilities are rated exceptionally high, with a Trion score of 9, Attack of 9, Defense of 9, Skill of 9, and Mobility of 7.
In addition to his combat prowess, Amo possesses a Side Effect, a unique ability that allows him to see combatants as colors. These different colors indicate varying levels of strength, making his ability extremely useful for reconnaissance and stealth missions. For example, he was able to detect humanoid Neighbors hidden within a swarm of ordinary Trion soldiers by observing their distinct color outlines.
