TV-Series
Description
Akari Inuyama is the younger sister of Aoi Inuyama. She is an elementary school student, initially in the fifth grade and later advancing to the sixth grade as the story progresses. In physical appearance, Akari bears a striking resemblance to her older sister, looking much like a younger version of her. She shares several of Aoi's most recognizable traits, including thick eyebrows and the use of the Kansai dialect. Her typical outfit includes a gray and black skull hat. In the movie, set several years later, her hair is cut much shorter, giving her a more modern and somewhat boyish look as a young adult.
Akari is characterized by her lively, energetic, and highly sociable nature. Like her sister, she enjoys playfully teasing others and is fond of telling outlandish or made-up stories, often just for fun. When she is lying or exaggerating, her eyes tend to wander, a tell she also shares with Aoi. Despite her young age, she is very forward and speaks to older characters without reservation, often addressing them with the familiar suffix "chan".
Initially, Akari does not show a strong interest in camping or the outdoor activities of her sister's friends. Her primary motivation for joining a group camping trip to the Izu Peninsula is a very specific one: the chance to see the famous capybaras bathing in a hot spring at a local animal park. She later participates in a cherry blossom viewing camp, largely motivated by the prospect of eating grilled meat. In the movie, her motivation shifts towards helping her sister and friends with a larger project, offering her artistic skills to contribute to the construction of a new campsite.
In the story, Akari serves as a recurring supporting character who adds energy and humor to group scenes. Her most significant role in the main series is during the Izu camping trip, where she joins a large group including Nadeshiko Kagamihara, Rin Shima, Chiaki Oogaki, Ena Saitou, and Ryoko Toba. During this trip, she is involved in several comedic moments, such as helping her sister play a prank on Nadeshiko and being on the receiving end of a prank about a fictional dish called "Tonboro". Her most substantial development occurs in the movie, where she is seen as an art university student in Tokyo, having grown into a young woman who uses her talents to design logos and signage for her friends' campsite project.
Her key relationships are defined by family and friendship. Her bond with her sister Aoi is close and playful, with the two often collaborating in their antics. She has a notable friendship with Chiaki Oogaki, who affectionately nicknames her "Chibi Inuko," meaning "Little Inuko". They share a direct and unreserved rapport, frequently joking and teasing each other.
Akari has several notable traits and abilities. She is a gifted storyteller, though the truth of her tales is often questionable. More concretely, in the movie, she demonstrates a developed artistic talent, studying art at the university level and applying her skills to graphic design tasks.
