Description
Megumi Hayashida, known by his alias Rindaman or simply Rinda, is a student of Suzuran All-Boys High School and a legendary figure within its violent hierarchy. He carries the fearsome epithet Rindaman the Murderer, a reputation earned through his overwhelming combat ability and the rumor that his opponents have ended up in the hospital. Rindaman has never lost a fight, with his only match being a draw against Harumichi Bouya. His nickname derives from an alternate reading of his family name Hayashida, where hayashi can also be read as rin.
Physically, Rindaman towers over his peers, standing a full head taller than most, and his intimidating stature is matched by his quiet, taciturn demeanor. He is aloof and often skips school for work, making him a rare sight on campus. Unlike the many students who form factions and scheme to conquer Suzuran, Rindaman remains a lone wolf with no interest in power struggles or ruling the school. He refuses to align with any group and simply observes the constant conflicts from the sidelines. However, he never backs down from a direct challenge and will swiftly and decisively crush anyone who confronts him.
In Crows Zero II, Rindaman serves as the ultimate obstacle for Genji Takiya, who is determined to conquer Suzuran. After Genji defeats Serizawa Tamao, he repeatedly challenges Rindaman in an attempt to prove his superiority, but is consistently and soundly beaten. Despite his lack of interest in the school's politics, Rindaman becomes a measuring stick for Genji's growth. On Genji's final day at Suzuran, he lands a knockdown on Rindaman—a feat that astonishes everyone—but Genji ultimately loses the fight, solidifying Rindaman's undefeated legacy.
Rindaman's key relationships are defined by his status as the undisputed strongest. He is feared and respected by all, including Serizawa, who viewed him as the only person he couldn't beat. Genji's relentless challenges eventually earn a degree of recognition, though Rindaman remains largely indifferent. In his earlier years, he formed an unexpected friendship with Bitou Makio, the former leader of Housen Academy, who acknowledged Rindaman's strength even then. After graduating, Rindaman becomes a professional fighter, continuing to demonstrate his exceptional abilities.
His most notable ability is his sheer, unmatched combat prowess. His strength, instincts, and experience are considered nearly perfect, allowing him to overcome any opponent without strategy or faction backing. Rindaman is a silent force of nature within Suzuran, a legend whose achievements are spoken of in whispers but never fully documented, and his presence defines the school's reputation as an unconquerable stronghold.
