Description
Gyubid is a black witch who becomes the magical instructor and guardian of the main character, Chiyoko Kurotori. Her entrance into Chiyokos life is a complete accident. While attempting to summon the messenger of love, Cupid, Chiyoko has a stuffy nose and mispronounces the name, inadvertently summoning Gyubid instead. Rather than leave, Gyubid decides to take on the role of teacher, forcing the young girl to begin training as a black witch.

In terms of appearance, Gyubid is a beautiful witch with mystical white hair that carries a slight blue tinge. Her eyes are a striking supernatural gold, which reflects her magical nature and often highlights her tricky personality.

Gyubid has a multifaceted personality. On the surface, she is described as mischievous and seems to genuinely enjoy putting her student in difficult or embarrassing situations. She acts as a classic trickster mentor, often playing pranks on Chiyoko and subjecting her to tough training regimens with harsh punishments for slacking off. However, this strict and playful exterior hides a much more caring nature. Despite her teasing, Gyubid sincerely cares for Chiyokos safety and well-being. She often comes to the rescue when Chiyoko is in genuine danger, embodying the trope of dark not being evil.

Gyubids primary role in the story is that of a spirit advisor. She is typically invisible to everyone except Chiyoko, unless she chooses to take on a material form. This allows Chiyoko to keep her magical extracurricular studies a secret from most of her family and classmates.

Her key relationships are centered around the magical world and her apprentice. Her boss is Angolmois, a former classmate from the Black Witch Public Academy. She has a history with her former teacher, Exonome, for whom she once harbored a crush, though she becomes disappointed in him upon discovering he accepts bribes. She also interacts with Touka Blossom, an underclassman from the academy. Gyubid acts as a mentor figure to her as well, with Touka eventually coming to live at Chiyokos house to continue her training. Gyubid also has a history with a character named Kyou Oogata, a rival to Chiyoko whose magic was sealed by Angolmois.

Gyubid demonstrates notable development throughout the series, particularly regarding her commitment to Chiyoko. Her dedication as a teacher is proven in a significant event where she uses a forbidden spell. She casts this magic to sever a pact and save one of Chiyokos classmates, a decision made to ensure Chiyoko would not have to spend her day in tears. The punishment for using this forbidden spell was severe; Gyubid was trapped in a tree in the Spirit World. Later, she is put on trial for her actions. During the trial, evidence is presented that proves her innocence, and the judge decrees that Gyubid must not leave Chiyokos side until the girl officially graduates as a black witch, solidifying their bond permanently.

Regarding her abilities, as a fully-fledged black witch and self-proclaimed hottest instructor of the magic world, Gyubid is highly proficient in witchcraft. She is capable of casting a wide variety of spells, including the forbidden magic that comes with severe consequences. She is also able to disguise herself and interact with the physical world, allowing her to masquerade as a normal human when the situation requires it.
