Description
Kotoha Tanaka is an idol working within the 765 Production agency as part of the 39 Project, first appearing in the mobile game THE iDOLM@STER Million Live! and later featured in Theater Days and related media. She is an eighteen-year-old from Tokyo with a diligent, earnest nature often likened to that of an honors student. Kotoha takes every task seriously, strives to perform at her best, and carries herself with a gentle, calming demeanor that makes her a soothing presence among her peers. Beneath this composed exterior, however, she harbors a significant lack of self-confidence that causes her to feel intense pressure and anxiety, sometimes leaving her overwhelmed or in tears.

Her primary motivation for becoming an idol stems from a long-standing admiration for performers she watched on television, and she was encouraged by her friends to attend the audition that led to her recruitment. A central focus of her personal arc is learning to trust her own abilities and to overcome the insecurity that undermines her considerable talents. She is passionate about acting, a pursuit in which she can become so immersed that she temporarily loses sight of her surroundings, though this same intensity can also fuel her self-doubt when she feels she has fallen short.

In terms of relationships, Kotoha is closely bonded with Megumi and Elena, the two partners with whom she forms the unit TriStar Vision. These friendships provide a crucial support system; Megumi quietly looks after her, while Elena’s bright energy helps to counterbalance Kotoha’s tendency toward worry. The steadfast encouragement of these companions plays a key role in helping Kotoha recover from setbacks and continue growing both as a performer and as an individual. Another fellow idol, Umi, is sometimes noted for engaging with Kotoha in a way that lightens the mood with an innocent, cheerful personality.

Kotoha’s development follows a path from a capable but fragile newcomer to a more resilient idol who gradually learns to manage her stress and believe in her own efforts. Her hardworking nature ensures that she constantly improves her singing, dancing, and stage presence, while the reassurance of her closest friends gives her the emotional foothold to keep moving forward.

Among her notable abilities, Kotoha is skilled in fencing, a talent that often leads to her being depicted with a rapier in official and fan artwork. Her acting passion also distinguishes her, as she brings a dramatic sensibility to her performances and can fully commit to a role with striking focus. Offstage, she enjoys bathing and has a fondness for ice cream, small comforts that reflect her gentle, methodical approach to relaxing from the demands of idol life.
