Risa Taneda is a Japanese voice actress born on July 12, 1988, in Tokyo, Japan. She is affiliated with the talent agency Office Osawa. Her path to voice acting began in her first year of junior high school, inspired by the fantasy world of the Harry Potter series. Despite her school's prohibition on entertainment activities, she taught herself acting skills. She later graduated from the Department of Design at女子美术大学 (Joshibi University of Art and Design) and holds a teaching license for middle and high school art.

Her entry into the industry started in November 2007 when she became the 9th generation assistant on the radio program "智一・美樹のラジオビッグバン" (Tomokazu Miki no Radio Big Bang). Taneda made her formal debut as a voice actress in May 2010 by appearing in a drama CD for the series The Last Emperor. Her first role in an anime was in the 2011 short film Sakura no Ondo.

Taneda's first leading role in a television anime came in 2012, when she voiced the protagonist Saki Watanabe in From the New World. She also performed the series' ending theme song, "Wareta Ringo". This performance marked the beginning of a rapid rise in her career, during which she secured main roles in several major productions. In 2013, she was cast as Mirai Kuriyama in Beyond the Boundary, Yukina Himeragi in Strike the Blood, and Aya Komichi in Kin-iro Mosaic. The following year, she took on the roles of Rize Tedeza in Is the Order a Rabbit? and the critically acclaimed role of Kaori Miyazono in Your Lie in April. In 2015, she was cast as Erina Nakiri in Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma and as Kuon in Utawarerumono: The False Faces. Her work extended to video games as well, most notably as the voice of Mash Kyrielight in the massively popular mobile game Fate/Grand Order.

A recurring aspect of Taneda's career is her involvement in musical performances related to her roles. She has been a member of several voice actor idol units formed from the casts of her series, including Rhodanthe* from Kin-iro Mosaic and Petit Rabbit's from Is the Order a Rabbit?.

In September 2016, Taneda's agency announced that she was putting her career on hiatus to undergo treatment for a throat condition. During this period, many of her ongoing roles were temporarily taken over by other voice actors. After nearly a year of treatment, her agency announced her successful recovery and her gradual return to work in August 2017. Upon her return, she resumed many of her previous roles, including Yukina Himeragi in the ongoing Strike the Blood series and Ai Mizuno in Zombie Land Saga Revenge. She has continued to be active in the industry, voicing characters such as Meteorite in the Arknights anime adaptation and confirming her place in long-running franchises like Utawarerumono. In 2022, her first solo radio program, "Salon de Tanedaへようこそ♪" (Welcome to Salon de Taneda), won the "Best Solo Radio" award at the 7th Aniradi Awards.
