Description
Kana Yabuki is a 14-year-old idol affiliated with 765 Production, hailing from Kanagawa Prefecture and born on August 18th. She stands at 155 centimeters tall and has a character theme often represented by a ruby red or vibrant orange color. Her most defining physical traits are her short orange hair and yellow eyes, often styled with a small ponytail pinned behind her left ear.

Kana has a bright, positive, and energetic personality that suits her age, frequently displaying an enthusiastic and headstrong nature in her pursuits. This cheerfulness is coupled with a notable clumsiness; she has been known to put salt in her coffee instead of sugar or wear her shirt inside out without realizing it. She is also something of a crybaby, easily brought to tears by frightening or moving experiences.

At the core of her character is an intense, almost paradoxical love for singing. She is happiest when she can sing and will spontaneously create melodies about anything, such as her own fatigue after practice. However, she possesses a significant complex because she is notoriously tone-deaf. Her powerful but off-key voice has the comical effect of scattering animals and causing people to cover their ears. Rather than being discouraged by this flaw, Kana works tirelessly day and night to improve her vocal skills, showing a resilient side that refuses to give up on her dream. In a sharp contrast to her singing, she is a highly accomplished clarinet player whose talent is near a professional level, and she is also very athletic, excelling at soccer and baseball.

Her primary motivation stems from a deep admiration for her seniors. Originally, she looked up to Chihaya Kisaragi for her beautiful voice, but she is also a major fan of Haruka Amami, whose performance inspired Kana to pursue a career as an idol. Her role within the narrative of Million Live is that of a dedicated newcomer who works hard to stand alongside her peers. In the anime film Beyond the Light!, she plays a central role as one of seven back-up dancers, where she struggles with the pressure of training. After making a mistake during a practice live, her stress leads her to isolate herself and turn to stress eating, causing her to gain weight and consider quitting. With encouragement from Haruka Amami and others, she overcomes this crisis and returns to the stage. In the main Million Live! anime series, she continues her journey as part of the Million Stars project, often seen working as a back dancer on tours with the original All Stars members.

Kana shares a key relationship with Shiho Kitazawa, another trainee who often acts as her foil, voicing strict criticisms that challenge Kana but also highlight their close dynamic. She is often grouped in units with other idols, including friends like Anna Mochizuki, Rio Momose, Serika Hakozaki, and Umi Kousaka. Her development as a character is largely defined by her struggle to reconcile her passion for singing with her lack of natural talent. She represents a hardworking underdog who compensates for her weaknesses through sheer effort and maintains her love for music without becoming bitter about her limitations. Her notable abilities include her unexpected strength in sports, such as a powerful kick in soccer, and her skill with wind instruments, proving that her musical ear functions perfectly well outside of her own voice.
