Description
Issei Kuga is a fictional character from the multimedia franchise TsukiPro. He is a teenage idol affiliated with the agency Tsukino Talent Production, where he performs as a member of the unit QUELL. He is distinguished as the older twin brother of his fellow unit member, Ichiru Kuga.

Issei was born on September 12 and stands approximately 170 to 177 centimeters tall. He is a young man with black hair cut to ear length and styled with his bangs swept to the right, which is a key visual trait that sets him apart from his twin. Issei has blue eyes. His physical constitution is described as somewhat frail.

Issei and his twin brother grew up in an orphanage in Hokkaido. As a result of this upbringing, they did not attend high school and instead found work at a local production factory after graduating from middle school. However, Issei had difficulty fitting in with his coworkers and soon left that job. Their lives changed when they encountered the experienced idol Shu Izumi, who was in Sapporo for a press tour. Moved by their difficult circumstances, Shu offered to bring the twins back to Tokyo. After meeting the president of Tsukino Talent Production, the twins agreed to debut as idols, a decision Issei made primarily for the stability of living in the agency's dormitory rather than out of a passion for performing arts.

In terms of personality, Issei is characterized as being shy, soft-spoken, and introverted, especially in contrast to his more expressive twin. Due to his shyness, he can sometimes come across as anti-social or unapproachable, but he consistently strives to be polite to others. He has great difficulty dealing with crowds, which can even make him feel physically unwell. He also harbors some self-doubt, as he is initially unsure if he is truly suited to the life of an idol.

Issei possesses a sharp, intellectual mind. He has proven to be exceptionally smart and is a quick learner who can pick up most skills through observation, making him a naturally talented individual. This intelligence is paired with a strong sense of curiosity; his unit manager, Eichi Horimiya, has noted that Issei is always asking questions. Issei is also extremely observant, a trait that likely contributes to his ability to learn so quickly.

A key part of Issei's motivation and character arc involves his personal growth and pursuit of a more stable future. Despite his natural talent, he struggles with self-confidence regarding his career as an idol. Later in the story, he makes the significant decision to obtain his high school diploma. This decision is driven by his ambition to pass the entrance requirements for university. It is eventually revealed that he is accepted into a university, and he learns to balance his academic studies with his demanding work as an idol. This marks an important stage of development for him, as it is the first major path he takes that is separate from his twin brother, Ichiru.

Issei's role in the story is centered on his journey as a member of QUELL. The other members of his unit are his protective younger twin, Ichiru Kuga; the kind and mysterious senior idol, Shu Izumi; and their cheerful and capable manager turned fellow idol, Eichi Horimiya. The rest of QUELL is highly protective of Issei, partly due to his introverted and frail nature. Shu and Issei bond over a shared love of reading, with Shu frequently recommending books that Issei is happy to read. He also spends time cooking together with his brother and Eichi.

Issei's relationship with his twin, Ichiru, is the most significant in his life. They are extremely close, having had no other family, and do almost everything together. Despite Issei being the older twin, it is Ichiru who is the more overprotective one. Ichiru frequently becomes angry on Issei's behalf because Issei is unlikely to speak up for himself. This deep bond extends to their daily habits, as they are noted to often fall asleep in the same bed, sometimes while holding hands.

Beyond his immediate unit, he holds the members of the more experienced unit, SolidS, in high regard, finding them inspiring, kind, and down-to-earth. He once mentioned being surprised to learn that Shiki Takamura from SolidS is an interesting and funny person, implying he initially came across differently.

Issei has several notable abilities and personal preferences. His most prominent ability is his capacity to learn most tasks simply by watching and imitating others. Beyond this, he is a capable cook, able to prepare simple dishes, and he also knows sign language, having learned it while at the orphanage. He has an interest in photography, though he admits he is not yet very skilled at it. In his free time, Issei enjoys stargazing and spending time at libraries, where he likes the quiet atmosphere and the smell of paper. He also enjoys visiting aquariums, appreciating their dark and peaceful environment. He dislikes crowds, heat, greasy foods like yakiniku (fried meat), and certain sticky foods like natto. He has a high tolerance for scary things, such as horror movies and haunted houses, which contrasts with his twin who is easily frightened. Despite his shyness, he needs something to hug in order to fall asleep.
