Description
Abi is a significant figure from the distant past within the narrative, known as the first Seiryuu, or the original Blue Dragon Warrior. He lived during the era of King Hiryuu, the founder of the Kingdom of Kouka who was revered as the Crimson Dragon King. Abi was one of the four original dragon warriors who, by drinking the blood of a dragon god, gained immense power and swore an oath to protect the king. His story is primarily revealed through flashbacks, which provide a poignant contrast to the journey of the present-day dragon descendants.

In terms of appearance, Abi possesses a notably delicate and feminine look. He has medium-length blue hair, often tied back, with bangs framing both sides of his face. As the first Seiryuu, his most striking features are his beautiful golden eyes, which have red signature marks directly beneath them. He typically wears a kimono-style garment tied at the waist and accessorizes with a pearl necklace. Later in life, after a traumatic event where he was captured by people who sought to exploit his power, he began to cover his eyes with a bandage.

Abi's personality is a complex blend of contrasts. On the surface, he is known for being foul-mouthed and having a quick, bad temper, especially when provoked. He does not hesitate to make snide comments and can be easy to set off, engaging in name-calling and escalating arguments. Despite this prickly exterior, he is also shown to be quiet, sensitive, and deeply caring. He possesses a strong sense of pride in his abilities and his position as a Dragon Warrior. Underneath his defensive attitude, he is capable of profound love and unwavering loyalty, particularly towards his king and his fellow warriors, for whom he would do anything.

His primary motivation is rooted in his oath to serve and protect King Hiryuu. He takes this duty seriously and takes great pride in his role as a general fighting for the king. His power, the Dragon Eyes, is a double-edged sword. It grants him extraordinary vision, allowing him to see over vast distances, through objects, and in darkness. More offensively, he can paralyze a person simply by looking into their eyes, subjecting them to fatal hallucinations that can even stop a heart. However, this overwhelming power comes at a great cost; overusing it causes the paralysis to backfire on Abi himself, rendering him temporarily immobile.

Abi's role in the story is to serve as a historical figure, one of the original foundations of the kingdom's legend. He appears in flashback sequences that explore the lives of the first generation of dragon warriors. His key relationships are central to his character. He shares a deep, loyal bond with King Hiryuu, whom he serves directly. He also has a significant and often volatile relationship with his comrade Shu-Ten, the first Green Dragon Warrior. The two are frequently at odds, engaging in petty arguments and insults, yet their bickering belies a strong, underlying camaraderie forged on the battlefield. He is also a comrade of Gu-En, the first White Dragon, and Zeno, the first Yellow Dragon.

In terms of development, Abi's story is marked by trauma. An unspecified event where he was captured and had a knife to his neck deeply affected him, breaking something within his spirit. This trauma, combined with the sorrow of King Hiryuu's eventual death, left him sadder and more somber. He chose to keep his eyes covered with a bandage, symbolizing his wounded pride and mental anguish. This experience is likely the source of the belief held by his later descendants that the Blue Dragon's power was cursed. He eventually left Hiryuu Castle alongside Shu-Ten and Gu-En, and like them, he eventually passed away from aging, leaving Zeno as the sole survivor of the original four. The bird that accompanies him serves as a small but telling detail of his capacity for quiet companionship.
