Description
Kei Tsuzuki is a character from the idol franchise The Idolm@ster SideM, who also appears in the chibi-style spin-off Wake Atte Mini!. He is one half of the classical music duo unit Altessimo, alongside his partner Rei Kagura. Prior to becoming an idol, Tsuzuki worked as a composer and pianist.

In terms of background, Tsuzuki is of mixed Japanese and German heritage, with his mother being German and his father Japanese. Following his parents' divorce in his early childhood, he moved with his mother to Berlin, Germany, where he was raised. His deep connection to music began in that city, listening to the sounds of an orchestra from a concert hall near his apartment, an experience he credits with bringing colour to his life and inspiring him to become a composer. At some point, he wrote the debut song for a legendary singer. When that singer suddenly retired, he lost his sense of purpose. He was eventually scouted by the game's Producer, who discovered Tsuzuki singing without an umbrella in the rain and handed him a business card.

Physically, Tsuzuki is tall and notably slender, standing at 182 cm tall but weighing only 54 kg. He has long blonde hair, green eyes, and is left-handed. His age is officially listed as "unknown," making him a unique case among the idols, though in-game search functions classify him within the 30s or older category. His birthday is given as April 2nd.

Tsuzuki's personality is calm, mysterious, and entirely consumed by his passion for music. He considers music to be his sole reason for living and finds beauty in all sounds. This intense focus makes him appear extremely airheaded and disconnected from the practicalities of daily life. He frequently falls asleep in the middle of conversations, often because he stays up late composing, and can drift into his own world where he continues to sing or play even after a song has ended. He is notoriously forgetful about mundane things, to the point of not remembering his own age. He also rarely eats solid food, claiming that drinking water is sufficient for survival, which causes other characters to worry about his health. His personal motto is "poco a poco," which is Italian for "little by little".

His primary motivation as an idol is deeply personal and artistic. He joined 315 Production not for fame or money, but to witness firsthand the moment when a sound born from his own hands is filled with life. He aims to continue exploring music and to move people's hearts with his songs. In the story, his role is that of a genius musician who needs guidance in all other aspects of life. He relies almost entirely on his producing unit partner, Rei Kagura, to keep him grounded and on schedule. Tsuzuki was initially drawn to Rei after hearing his violin playing in a studio, declaring then and there that he wanted to perform with him. While he may seem like a burden, Tsuzuki holds Rei in the highest esteem and cares for him deeply. He is often shown interacting with other idols, who generally address him with respectful honorifics due to his ambiguous age and esteemed status as a composer.

Tsuzuki's development is tied to finding a renewed sense of purpose through his connections. Having lost his creative drive after the legendary singer he worked with retired, his encounter with Rei and the Producer gave him a new reason to continue his musical journey. His personal growth involves slowly becoming more integrated with the world around him, even if he remains perpetually distracted by the sounds he hears.

Regarding notable abilities, Tsuzuki is an extraordinarily gifted composer and pianist, often referred to as a "vocal monster" for his exceptional singing prowess. His skills on the piano are his primary talent. However, his abilities outside of music are notably lacking. He has extremely poor throwing strength, unable to throw objects any significant distance, and struggles with most everyday tasks that his partner or the Producer must help him with.
