Description
Nikita, a red-haired tomboy, belongs to Milan's Wolf Pack street gang. She initially antagonizes the Black Brothers, a rival group of chimney sweeps. Her hostility shifts dramatically after the Black Brothers defeat the Wolf Pack at San Babila Church, where Alfredo exposes her concealed identity as a girl—unknown to most Black Brothers except himself.

After this revelation, Dante of the Black Brothers develops a crush on Nikita. Simultaneously, Nikita grows friendlier toward the gang, driven by her budding affection for Alfredo, which reshapes her alliances.

Alfredo’s death devastates Nikita, triggering profound grief. In a raw outpouring of sorrow, she impulsively swims a freezing winter river alongside Dante, who mirrors her despair. Both survive the ordeal despite the harsh conditions.

Ultimately, Nikita honors a symbolic promise to Alfredo by wearing a flower in her hair. She commits to tending his grave, assuring Romeo of this duty before his departure from Milan. Her bond with Alfredo lingers mysteriously, marked by her continued visits to his grave.
