TV-Series
Description
Bariki Kudou is the genius engineer and mechanic for the Earth Defense Corps, the organization known as Earth Granner, and serves as the father of the series' twin protagonists, Raiga and Kuga Kudou. His reputation as a brilliant inventor is well-known, yet it exists alongside a profound and defining trait of being extremely absent-minded. This is not due to a lack of intelligence, but rather because he becomes so completely absorbed in the task directly in front of him that he loses awareness of everything else. Despite this often comical obliviousness, Bariki is highly regarded by those close to him for his unwavering integrity, as he will always see through any promise he makes.

Bariki exhibited prodigious talent from a young age, skipping high school to attend university directly. It was during this time that he formed a pivotal friendship with Ikuzou Kumaneko, who would later become the commander of Earth Granner. The two collaborated on various projects to help others, and Bariki pledged to one day assist his friend in his larger goal of protecting people on a global scale. He is married to Madoka Kudou, whom he has known since they were teenagers, and he dotes on his twin sons, Raiga and Kuga. His relationship with his own father, Manriki Kudou, is more strained and complex, stemming from Manriki's disapproval of Bariki's work on the Gao Granners and his subsequent decision to leave Earth.

In his professional role, Bariki is the primary developer of the Granner machines, despite a paradoxical lack of full comprehension regarding the intricacies of their mechanics. He was not involved in the Granner project from its very inception and was not the creator of the prototype unit, Gao Granner Saber. His expertise was called upon to complete work on the Gao Granner Shark at the organization's Australia branch. As the alien threat from Dark Spinner escalated, Bariki took charge of the critical Space Custom Project. The goal of this initiative was to retrofit the Granners for combat in the void of space, a necessary countermeasure against the alien mothership known as Ō. Upon the plan's completion, he traveled into space alongside his sons and his robotic assistant, Gyron. His name reflects his role in the story, as Bariki can be interpreted as "horsepower" and Kudou as "driving force".
