Description
The Queen of Nightmares is a character in the anime Mewkledreamy who serves as an antagonist in the first series, introduced from episode twelve onward. Her origins go back roughly two thousand years, when she was the queen of the Miracle Dreamy Kingdom and was known by the name Omoro. In the follow-up series Mewkledreamy Mix, she appears in a supporting role under the name Lyra and is described as the former Queen of Nightmares.

Her defining motivation is her wish to change hopes and dreams into nightmares and to build a realm called Nightmare Land out of those corrupted dreams. This ambition places her in direct opposition to the protagonists, whose efforts to protect happy dreams and gather Dreamy Stones run counter to everything she seeks to achieve. As a ruler associated with fear and darkness, she carries herself with a regal and commanding presence, and she pursues her goals with a composed, serious determination befitting her title.

Her role in the story is that of a powerful dream-based antagonist. Through her connection to nightmares, she interferes with the dream world and drives much of the conflict in the latter part of the first series. Her abilities center on the manipulation of dreams, particularly the power to turn positive hopes and dreams into frightening ones, which she uses as the foundation of her scheme. She also has the ability to bring plush toys to life, granting them movement and speech; one plush who had been dropped into the human world and left alone was given such life by her, and in turn came to respect her greatly.

A notable thread in the later episodes is her relationship with the Queen of the Sky, and the conflict between the two queens becomes a major focus, culminating in an episode centered on their confrontation. Her development across the franchise sees her position change over time. In the original series she stands as a genuine threat, but by Mewkledreamy Mix she has settled into a supporting role and is no longer referred to as the Queen of Nightmares, marking a clear shift in her standing and in how she fits into the story.
