Description
Bell Renjoji is a fourteen-year-old student and Prism Star belonging to the prestigious Edel Rose academy, where she is widely regarded as the most talented among her peers. Standing 165 centimeters tall, she has long, messy scarlet red hair that reaches her waist and sharp teal eyes. Her preferred fashion style is categorized as Sexy-type, and she performs using a violin as her Prism Live instrument. She is a member of the unit Bell Rose alongside her close friends and teammates, Wakana Morizono and Otoha Takanashi.
Bell carries herself with an air of maturity, confidence, and professionalism, but this outward composure often makes her appear intimidating to others. She speaks politely under normal circumstances but can become sharp and cutting when displeased. Beneath this poised exterior lies a deep-seated pressure to be perfect, a drive instilled in her primarily by her mother, Ritsu Renjoji. Her mother demands flawless results in academics, sports, and Prism Shows, leaving Bell feeling that anything less than being the best is a failure. This immense expectation has made her somewhat of a loner, as she feels the weight of everyone's eyes upon her and struggles to connect with those who do not share her relentless drive. Her father is named Yukihide Renjoji.
Her motivation throughout much of the story is to maintain her status as the top Prism Star and to live up to the expectations placed upon her, particularly by her mother. This pursuit of perfection initially causes her to look down on those who perform imperfectly yet still find joy and passion in their prism shows. Her role in the narrative is primarily that of a rival to the protagonist, Naru Ayase. Bell initially views the manager audition for the Prism Stone shop as a way to pass the time, but her encounter with Naru and the mysterious girl Rinne, who can perform four consecutive prism jumps, sparks a fierce competitive rivalry. Bell's journey is central to the theme of overcoming the isolation of perfectionism.
Her key relationships are crucial to her development. Wakana Morizono becomes her first true friend after comforting Bell over a 98% test score, which Bell feared would anger her mother. Otoha Takanashi joins their circle after Bell lends her skating shoes during the Edel Rose entrance exams, and the three form a lasting bond symbolized by matching pairs of skates. While Bell has a habit of ordering Otoha around, the two share a deep loyalty. Her rivalry with Naru Ayase is the catalyst for much of her change. After Bell soundly defeats Naru in the Dreaming Session tournament by performing a flawless three-jump chain, she is shocked when Naru, despite losing, rises again to perform her own three-jump chain. This act of passionate resilience forces Bell to acknowledge that there is value beyond pure technical perfection. She also has a pet animal coach named Seshini.
Bell undergoes significant character development as she gradually realizes that she does not need to be perfect to receive affection and care from others. A key moment in this growth occurs when she falls ill from overworking herself for a performance, and her subsequent recovery period allows her to reflect on her vulnerabilities. She learns to prioritize her own dreams and her relationships with her friends and family over the unattainable ideals set before her. By the end of the series, she wins the competition and becomes the Prism Queen.
In terms of notable abilities, Bell is an exceptionally skilled Prism Star capable of performing multiple consecutive prism jumps. While she strives to perform a chain of four jumps, a feat she witnesses Rinne accomplish, her own power and skill are acknowledged as top-tier within Edel Rose. She is also a virtuoso violinist and can speak five different languages.
