TV-Series
Description
Amou Shiiba is a 16-year-old male with brown hair arranged in three short, curled pigtails at the back and blue eyes. In the first season, he wears a yellow shirt with blue stripes, and in the second season, a black t-shirt over a red shirt, while retaining his distinctive pigtails.

His personality is generally friendly and kind, though he can at times display coldness or aggression. He is an understanding individual who strives to help others with his best efforts. However, unaccustomed to fighting, he does not handle negative situations well, which leads to periods of emotional withdrawal.

Orphaned by the Boundary Wars, Amou became a mechanic after discovering an abandoned AMAIM workshop. A machine enthusiast, he enjoys collecting parts and scavenging for mecha components. His life changes upon discovering an incomplete MAILeS Kenbu unit in an abandoned factory and its advanced autonomous AI, Gai, a key component for operating the Kenbu. This encounter leads him to pilot the Kenbu and join the fight to reclaim Japan.

Amou's development is marked by significant trauma. After the death of a resistance member named Risa, he enters a heroic breakdown and quits the resistance, though he later regains the will to fight. In another incident, he severely injures a mercenary, an act which causes fear among children and other mercenaries present. This event makes him distant and unresponsive to his fellow pilots upon his return, leading to another withdrawal until he is forced to confront his actions.

He experiences a Disney Death when he seemingly sacrifices himself to defeat a powerful enemy AMAIM called Ghost by preventing it from cooling down in seawater, resulting in a massive explosion where he and Gai vanish. Presumed dead, he reappears eight months later, saving resistance members and refugees from North American forces, though he is not himself after this incident. Following the final battle, he walks the earth in the epilogue alongside a rebooted Gai.

In terms of relationships, he shares tender moments with another resistance member, Shion Shishibe, indicating potential romantic ship tease. He also develops a strong partnership with the AI Gai, who acts as the control computer for the Kenbu, providing tactical support and information.

The MAILeS Kenbu he pilots is a balanced mecha with options for close combat, long range, and mobility. Its armaments include a shield with a hidden blade, a 60mm portable autocannon, a super-heated vibro sword, and a super-heated vibro claw that also functions as a defensive armguard. The Kenbu's combat effectiveness is enhanced by the synergy between Amou's piloting and Gai's data processing.
