Description
Ugraine, also romanized as Yugrain, serves as first princess of Ishulna's royal family. As the kingdom's sole daughter, she endured an intensely sheltered upbringing under her overprotective father after her mother's death in her childhood. This confinement bred profound melancholy and rebellion, culminating in a suicide attempt by jumping from a castle ledge—halted by Hinata Tachibana's intervention. During their ensuing talk, Ugraine confessed her disillusionment with a life defined only by hollow praise, revealing a desperate thirst for meaning beyond her gilded existence. This exchange forged mutual respect and affection, with Ugraine stating plainly to Tachibana, "I like you a lot."
Blessed by the Goddess of Love and Beauty with exceptional allure—marked by the goddess's seal—Ugraine has long strawberry-blonde hair worn loose with a full fringe, orange eyes, and fair skin. Initially adorned in ornate dresses with a golden tiara and red bows, she later adopts a practical uniform: black top, red pleated mini skirt, darker red gloves, brown boots, and a black headband featuring a burgundy-and-gold heart. She skillfully wields her beauty to charm and persuade men.
Despite her royal status, Ugraine exhibits striking naivete and recklessness, lacking basic life skills like dressing herself and relying on a specific towel to sleep. Her stifled existence fuels an intense craving for freedom and adventure. Upon learning Tachibana is the summoned hero, she impulsively demands to join Tachibana and Tsukasa Jinguuji's quest against the Demon King. Met with immediate refusal from her father and Jinguuji, she attempts to flee. Tachibana follows, offering to grant one wish. Seizing this, Ugraine rallies public support by theatrically declaring war on the Demon King. She and Tachibana then recruit soldiers by appearing before townspeople in coordinated outfits, leveraging their combined charm.
Her relationship with her father, who affectionately calls her "Yggie," anchors her character arc. His extreme protectiveness, amplified after his wife's death, initially dominates their dynamic. However, witnessing Ugraine's resolve during Ishulna's crisis—when demons Vizzd and Kalm manipulated the entity Mapon to attack—shifts his perspective. He openly acknowledges her maturity, declaring she has "grown up," and begins trusting her capabilities more, though he still collaborates with allies like Muria for her safety.
Her interactions vary: she shares warm respect with Tachibana rooted in their heartfelt bond, clashes antagonistically with Jinguuji, and maintains ties to palace staff like her Head Maid, who manages her daily care.
