Description
Kurimu Sakurano is a third-year student at Hekiyou Academy and serves as the president of the 32nd Student Council, a position she holds through the school’s popularity-based election system. Despite being one of the oldest members, she possesses a notably petite stature and a youthful, almost childlike appearance, with pink hair, green eyes, and a small ahoge. Her demeanor often matches her looks: she acts with an energetic, playful, and sometimes immature attitude, which frequently results in others teasing her or treating her more like a mascot than a leader. Nicknamed Aka‑chan partly as a pun on her name and partly to highlight her baby‑like qualities, she is easily swayed by sweets and simple pleasures, yet beneath this whimsical exterior lies a genuine desire to guide the council and create a warm, memorable school life.

Her background includes a pivotal encounter during her time as vice president, when she met the only male council member, Ken Sugisaki. She recommended he play a dating simulation game to learn how to make people happy, inadvertently setting him on a path that would shape much of the council’s daily antics. As president, Kurimu often initiates the council’s activities, setting whimsical or philosophical themes for meetings and routinely recording statements on a whiteboard. She is also the driving force behind the metafictional project of having Ken write stories to improve the council’s public image. Although she holds the title of president, her administrative skills are lacking; she tends to rely on Ken and others for the actual paperwork, and she stands out as the council member with the lowest academic performance.

Kurimu’s personality is defined by a cheerful, forward‑looking optimism. She is frequently the first to suggest new ideas and aspires to keep the group together, enjoying the everyday chatter and camaraderie of the council room more than formal responsibilities. Her innocence and sincerity act as emotional glue for the group, allowing her to inspire her peers even though she rarely exercises traditional authority. This dynamic is most evident in her relationship with the secretary, Chizuru Akaba, who dotes on her like a beloved doll or younger sister, and with Ken, whom she teases and encourages in equal measure. She is well liked across the student body, and her friendships extend to all council members, including the tomboyish Minatsu and the reserved Mafuyu, both of whom she treats as close companions.

Motivationally, Kurimu is driven by a desire to savor her remaining high school days and to preserve the bonds she has formed. As graduation looms in Student Council’s Discretion Lv. 2, the possibility of the council dissolving weighs on her, and she grapples with the fear of losing the everyday haven she has helped cultivate. Her character development revolves around embracing a leadership style that is not based on academic or administrative prowess but on the personal connections and joyful atmosphere she creates. She learns to accept that her real strength lies in her ability to unite people and give them a direction, even if it is conveyed through improbable and comedic schemes.

In terms of notable abilities, Kurimu possesses a vivid imagination and a talent for sparking creative, if often absurd, group projects. Her charisma is her primary asset, and she demonstrates a childlike resourcefulness that offsets her lack of bookish intelligence. While she cannot match her peers in grades or physical prowess, her unwavering optimism and genuine affection for the student council enable her to fulfill the role of president in her own distinctive way, making her the heartfelt center of the series’ comedic and slice‑of‑life episodes.
