Mariko Honda is a Japanese voice actress born on October 3, 1986, in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. She is affiliated with the talent agency amuleto. Honda decided to pursue a career in voice acting after watching the anime series Chrono Crusade. She graduated from the Amusement Media Academy in Tokyo and made her professional debut in 2008 with a role in the television anime series Our Home's Fox Deity. She was initially a member of Production Ace before going freelance in 2013 and joining amuleto later that year.
Honda gained early recognition and her first leading role in 2009 as Kurimu Sakurano, the student council president, in the anime Student Council's Discretion. This part was significant in establishing her career and led to her participation in the show's music and related events. In 2011, she voiced another prominent lead character, the energetic and accident-prone high school student Yūko Aioi, in the critically acclaimed comedy series Nichijou.
Throughout her career, Honda has taken on a wide range of roles in various anime series. She voiced Galil, a personification of the Galil AR rifle, in the 2012 series Upotte. She played the main character Z-chan, a personification of the Mazinger Z robot, in the Robot Girls Z shorts starting in 2014. In 2015, she voiced the character Inu-tan in the series Etotama. Her other television anime roles include Lucille Ernella in Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky, Kaoruko Rokuonji in Wagamama High Spec, and Kurobe in the short-form series Crossing Time.
Honda has also taken on significant roles in more serious and internationally popular series. She voiced Katsumi Nakase, a cosplayer and friend of the main characters, in the 2018 science fiction series Steins;Gate 0. She played the princess of the Jahad Empire, Yuri Jahad, in the 2020 anime adaptation of the popular manhwa Tower of God. In 2019, she provided the voice for Midori Watanabe in the romantic comedy short Fire in His Fingertips -My Childhood Friend is a Fireman-. More recently, she has appeared in series such as the 2023 comedy Hyakushō Kizoku.
Beyond anime, Mariko Honda has lent her voice to numerous video game characters. Her game credits include Uzume Tennouboshi in Megadimension Neptunia VII, Katsumi Nakase in Steins;Gate 0, and Momone Takayanagi in Chaos;Child. She has also been heard in popular mobile games, voicing Kazemaru in Arknights and Sandrone in Genshin Impact.
