Jerry Wang is a human character whose background is rooted in government service, having previously worked for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. During his tenure at NASA, he was blackmailed by the Decepticon known as Laserbeak into becoming an agent for the Decepticons. Forced into this role, he committed acts of sabotage, including interfering with satellites to help conceal the existence of a Cybertronian spacecraft, the Ark, on the dark side of the Moon. In an attempt to escape this coercion, Wang left NASA and took a job at a software company called Accuretta Systems.

However, his plan to hide was unsuccessful, as Laserbeak eventually tracked him down again. By this time, Wang’s personality had been profoundly affected by his fear and paranoia. He displays the behavior of a man who has lost his sanity, acting erratically and disruptively in the office environment, getting into the personal space of coworkers and supervisors. His manner is that of a complete eccentric, driven to the edge by the knowledge of the conspiracy he is part of and the constant threat of the Decepticons.

Jerry Wang’s primary motivation stems from a desperate need to expose the truth he is burdened with, despite the mortal danger it represents. When Sam Witwicky, a new employee at Accuretta Systems, begins working at the company, Wang immediately recognizes him from news coverage of previous events involving Transformers. Seizing an opportunity, Wang confronts Sam in an elevator. Though his actions appear aggressive, this is a ruse to secretly pass along a collection of documents. These papers include confidential NASA files concerning the Apollo 11 mission to the Moon and data on various other space program employees, all of which hint at a large-scale conspiracy involving the lunar missions and the Decepticons.

In the story, his role is that of a reluctant whistleblower and a catalyst for Sam’s investigation. By delivering the incriminating documents, Wang provides Sam with the crucial first pieces of evidence that suggest a pattern of mysterious deaths among people connected to the space race. This information sets Sam on the path to uncovering the full extent of the Decepticon plot. Wang’s key relationship is primarily with Sam Witwicky, whom he targets as the sole person capable of understanding and acting on the information. His other significant relationship is with his Decepticon handler, Laserbeak, who represents a constant and terrifying presence.

The character’s development is brief but tragic. He transitions from a coerced NASA employee to a paranoid fugitive trying to hide from his alien masters, and finally to a courageous, if seemingly suicidal, figure who chooses to fight back. After his encounter with Sam, Wang is discovered and confronted by Laserbeak, who has transformed into a suspicious computer terminal. Realizing Wang has betrayed the Decepticons by leaking secrets, Laserbeak declares his usefulness over and that he is to be terminated. In a final act of defiance, Wang draws two pistols and attempts to defend himself. However, he is no match for the Decepticon, who knocks him backward into his office chair and propels him through a large glass window, sending him falling to his death from a great height. Though he perishes, his actions are not in vain, as the documents he risked everything to give to Sam later prove vital in understanding the Decepticons’ scheme.

Jerry Wang possesses no superhuman or technological abilities. His notable skills lie in his background as a NASA employee, which gave him access to classified information. His most significant capability is his determination to disseminate that information, demonstrating a resourcefulness in his attempt to contact Sam and a final, desperate courage in his armed stand against Laserbeak.
