Description
Goro, the man who becomes Kamen Rider G, is a figure whose past is deeply intertwined with the shadowy organization known as Shade. Originally a sommelier by profession, he was captured by Shade and used as a test subject for their experiments, a process that transformed him into a cyborg and stripped him of his memories. His history is one of loss and reclamation, defined by the moment he sees his girlfriend, Eri Hinata, among a group of hostages taken by Shade. This sight is powerful enough to break through the brainwashing, and Goro regains his sense of self, immediately turning against his captors.

In terms of personality, Goro is depicted as a highly intelligent individual, which aligns with his profession as a sommelier. However, he carries a significant emotional burden, seeking to atone for the actions he was forced to commit while under Shade's control. Unlike some of the more experienced Kamen Riders, he initially lacks confidence in his own abilities, a trait that makes his journey toward self-belief a central part of his character. His personality and initial struggles are often compared to those of Takeshi Hongo, the first Kamen Rider, who also fought against the organization that created him.

Goro's primary motivation is protection and redemption. After breaking free from Shade's control, he declares his intention to protect the world from their evil influence. Following the defeat of Shade, he continues his mission, taking on a new iteration of the organization known as Neo-Shade. His love for Eri is a powerful catalyst, serving as the key that unlocks his true self and fuels his fight against the forces that would harm the innocent. His role in the larger narrative is that of a revived hero who, with encouragement from other legendary warriors, fully embraces his duty as a Kamen Rider.

Key relationships define his story arc. The most important is his bond with Eri Hinata, whose presence directly leads to his redemption. His connection to the wider Kamen Rider legacy is also crucial. When he struggles to defeat the powerful Phylloxera Worm, he is aided by Kamen Rider Decade and the other primary Heisei-era Kamen Riders. Their arrival and silent support give him the final push of confidence he needs to land his finishing attack, signifying his acceptance into their ranks. His enemies are primarily Shade and its leader, the Phylloxera Worm, as well as the various Worm monsters under their command. Later, he faces Neo-Shade, a group formed specifically to counter him.

Goro's development is condensed into a powerful moment of transformation from a victim to a hero. He begins as an amnesiac pawn, but through love and willpower, he reclaims his identity. His journey is not just about regaining memories, but about finding the courage to fight for what is right. His initial lack of confidence, contrasted with the support he receives from other Riders, allows him to grow into his role, culminating in his vow to be a protector of the world.

As Kamen Rider G, his abilities are notably themed around wine, a reflection of his former life. He transforms using a belt that resembles a wing corkscrew, into which he inserts a special wine bottle. His transformation pose involves drawing the letter "G" in the air with his arms, accompanied by the phrase, "Now, my vintage is at a good time... Henshin!". His Rider form is primarily black and red, with a large "G" emblem on his chest and around his eyes. For combat, he can summon a sword from the "G" on his chest. This weapon is designed like a sommelier's knife, featuring retractable blades and a corkscrew-like element. His primary finisher is the Swirling Rider Kick, a powerful technique where the letter "G" appears in the resulting explosion upon impact. The year of the wine on his transformation belt is 1973, which has a connection to the actor who portrayed him.
