Gorō Inagaki
Description
Gorō Inagaki is a Japanese actor, singer, and entertainer who began his career as a member of the highly popular boy band SMAP, which debuted in 1991. While his primary fame comes from live-action film, television drama, and stage work, he has also taken on select roles as a voice actor in animated features. He was born on December 8, 1973, in Tokyo.
Inagaki's career as a voice actor is limited but includes prominent roles in major film franchises. One of his earliest and most notable voice performances was as the antagonist Dr. Ratchet in the 2006 feature film One Piece: The Giant Mechanical Soldier of Karakuri Castle. Dr. Ratchet is portrayed as a genius and arrogant inventor who serves as the primary villain of the story. Regarding this role, Inagaki has commented that he enjoyed anime since childhood and admired voice actors, viewing this part as a new and enjoyable challenge. He received encouragement from fellow SMAP member Takuya Kimura for his work on the popular series.
Another significant voice role came more than a decade later when he voiced Masaaki Azumi in the 2019 animated fantasy film Children of the Sea (Kaijū no Kodomo). In this film, Masaaki is the father of the protagonist, Ruka, and works at an aquarium, which is a central location in the story.
Inagaki also portrayed the character of Goro, a former sommelier who transforms into the title character, in the live-action tokusatsu production Kamen Rider G. This role is a live-action performance rather than an anime voice role.
No information is available regarding voice roles for Gorō Inagaki in the series Tezuka's Barbara as Yōsuke Mikura, in the series Yu Yu Hakusho as Sakyo, or in the series Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo as Reiji Shiratori.
