Description
King Horn is an extraterrestrial ruler and the primary antagonist in the 1991 Taiwanese live-action film Dragon Ball: The Magic Begins. He is a powerful and ruthless tyrant driven by an insatiable desire for ultimate power and universal domination. His sole mission is to locate and unite all seven of the mystical Dragon Pearls, as legend states that whoever gathers them will command a magical dragon to appear and grant them control over the heavens and the entire universe.

King Horn is depicted as cruel, arrogant, and utterly without mercy. He demonstrates a cold willingness to destroy anyone who stands in his way, including killing innocent villagers to achieve his goals. His arrogance is evident in his conviction that no one can stop him, as he proudly declares that he always gets what he wants. This villainous king is a commanding and intimidating presence who expects total obedience from his subordinates and shows no hesitation in using violence, including taking hostages such as an elderly man named Sparkle, to force others to comply with his demands.

In the story, King Horn has already gathered two of the seven Dragon Pearls when the film begins. His hunt for the remaining pearls drives the conflict forward, as he dispatches his two main warriors, a humanoid henchman named Zebrata and a female fighter named Malilia, to lead his troops across the eastern lands to find the others. He leads a brutal attack on Jade's Village, killing Jade's father because he possessed one of the pearls. Furthermore, he personally orchestrates the kidnapping of Sparkle, who is the grandfather of the protagonist Monkey Boy and the owner of a four-star Dragon Pearl.

His key relationships are primarily antagonistic. He commands his powerful minions, Zebrata and Malilia, who carry out his orders to collect the Dragon Pearls and eliminate obstacles. His primary adversary is Monkey Boy, the young hero who, along with a group of allies including the martial arts master Turtle Man and the young woman Seetoe, seeks to stop him and rescue Sparkle. King Horn also directly antagonizes Turtle Man, whom he sees as a threat, and holds Sparkle as a personal hostage to manipulate Monkey Boy.

King Horn possesses several notable and fearsome abilities. He has the power to transform his body into a small, blue, bubble-like form, which he uses for teleportation and rapid long-distance travel. He can fly using his ki and fire potent yellow energy blasts or bolts of lightning from his palms and fingertips. His most distinctive and horrifying power is his control over the dead. By releasing lightning from his hands that channels up to his horns, he can temporarily reanimate deceased individuals, turning them into mindless, zombie-like servants who obey his commands and attack the living. This spell remains active only as long as King Horn continues to project the lightning; a physical strike against him will break the spell and cause the reanimated corpses to fall lifeless once more.

King Horn experiences a definitive defeat at the climax of the film. After Monkey Boy and his friends confront him, the villain uses his necromancy to force them to fight against the zombified victims he had previously killed. The tide turns when Monkey Boy uses his Magic Cloud to strike King Horn, disrupting his spell. In a desperate move to stop him, the heroes Turtle Man and Sparkle force the final Dragon Pearl down King Horn's throat. This act causes him to violently explode from within, destroying him and simultaneously summoning the magic dragon, thus fulfilling the very legend he sought to exploit for his own evil ends.
