TV-Series
Description
Mitsuki Sarue operates under the alias Sariel, a second-generation archangel dispatched from Ente Isla. Tasked by the Church of Ente Isla with executing divine judgments against fallen entities, he infiltrates Earth under the human identity "Mitsuki Sarue." As manager of a Sentucky Fried Chicken franchise in Hatagaya, he surveils Satan (Sadao Maou) and Emilia Justina (Emi Yusa), refugees from Ente Isla.

In human guise, Mitsuki sports blue hair (rendered silver in novels) and purple eyes, typically hidden behind sunglasses. An orange circular mark around his right eye stems from an anti-crime paintball strike during an initial skirmish with Emilia. He frequently dons his Sentucky uniform or formal attire—black suit, blue shirt, and white tie—while favoring hooded sweatshirts and long coats off-duty. Heavy cologne masks lingering paintball odors, accentuating his social awkwardness. His angelic form, Sariel, manifests silver hair, a white robe, an olive branch headpiece, and wings that expand near the moon. Physical fluctuations occur due to obsession with Mayumi Kisaki: weight gain from daily MgRonald's surveillance visits, followed by weight loss after her permanent ban.

Personality blends profound arrogance from his archangel status with overt perversity. Documented behaviors include non-consensual physical contact with women, intrusive "investigations" of females, and inappropriate compliments toward Emilia and Chiho Sasaki. His fixation shifts to Mayumi Kisaki, whom he pursues relentlessly despite explicit rejections, cementing his unsettling reputation.

Sariel's core mission demands retrieving Emilia’s sacred sword, "Better Half." He initiates conflict by ambushing Emilia disguised as a convenience store robber. Later, he allies with fellow Church agent Crestia Bell (Suzuno Kamazuki) to eliminate Emilia and Satan. Combat relies on a large scythe and unique abilities: the "Wicked Light of the Fallen" neutralizes sacred powers and disables Emilia’s sword. Additional powers encompass flight, teleportation, memory manipulation (evidenced by falsified employment records), barrier creation, and elemental attacks. His strength peaks when the moon draws near.

A pivotal confrontation erupts when Sariel and Crestia abduct Chiho to lure Emilia and Satan. Church archbishop Olba Mayer magically pulls the moon closer to amplify Sariel’s power. This inadvertently fuels Satan’s demonic energy through widespread human panic, enabling Satan’s victory. Post-defeat, Sariel’s wings diminish, and he loses archangel status. He remains in the human world, abandoning antagonism.

As Mitsuki Sarue, he later marries Mayumi Kisaki, fathering a daughter named Yuzuki Sarue. Despite family life, he retains eccentric traits, including persistent attempts to enter MgRonald’s despite his ban.

Trivia notes include his prior career as an Ente Isla lawyer and physical resemblance to Pokémon’s James. His alias "Mitsuki" (三月) means "March" but incorporates the character for "moon" (月), alluding to his lunar-linked powers.
