Description
Shirō Ashiya, formerly the Demon General Alciel, ranked among the Four Great Archdemon Generals serving Satan in Ente Isla's demon realm. Prior to his allegiance, he commanded the Iron Scorpions clan, famed for their impenetrable defenses and telekinesis magic. Defeated by Satan in combat, he and his clan swore fealty to the Demon King's Army. As Satan's chief strategist and right-hand general, Alciel planned military operations, including the Eastern Continent invasion. He shared Satan's view of humans as expendable resources during conquests, displaying profound arrogance toward them and reacting with fury to any perceived encroachments on demonic territory.

After defeat by the hero Emilia Justina and her allies, Alciel fled with Satan through a dimensional gate to modern-day Tokyo. Stripped of most demonic power due to Earth's lack of magic, he adopted the human identity "Shirō Ashiya," adjusting to a vulnerable human form that lacked his demonic carapace, tail, and significant stature, severely diminishing his pride. On Earth, Ashiya managed domestic duties in their shared apartment, researching power restoration while enforcing extreme household frugality. He hid money and criticized unnecessary spending by Satan (now Sadao Maou) or Lucifer, whose online shopping and gaming worsened financial strain. This thriftiness became an exploitable weakness; Emi Yusa (Emilia) occasionally bribed him with money for information.

Ashiya maintained unwavering loyalty to Maou on Earth, consistently addressing him as "Your Majesty" even publicly and exhibiting intense self-reproach for perceived duty failures. Despite this subservience, he frequently scolded Maou over fiscal irresponsibility or personal habits, adopting a parental demeanor. While retaining a belief in demonic superiority, his human interactions showed gradual softening. He apologized immediately after a biologically insensitive remark offended Chiho Sasaki. He developed a complex dynamic with Rika Suzuki, Emi's human coworker. Rika's romantic interest led to joint outings like a television-shopping trip, though Ashiya initially rationalized her inclusion as pragmatic for consumer advice. Emi reacted with concealed fury to this relationship, reflecting concerns over human-demon entanglements.

In battle, Alciel wielded strategic intellect and potent demonic abilities: teleportation, energy projection (green-hued projectiles and barriers), telekinesis (e.g., hurling cars), and flight in demon form. He possessed superhuman strength and resilience, notably the "thickest skin" among the generals, repelling most weapons. On Earth, these abilities were severely limited but could be replenished via ambient negative human emotions. His human form showed no overt demonic traits, typically dressed in affordable Uniqlo-style clothing or a green apron during chores—a color echoing his general's cape in Ente Isla.

His name "Alciel" references the lowest level of Hell in Chaldean myth, drawing parallels to Abbadon. Physiological distinctions potentially included multiple hearts. He later acknowledged Rika Suzuki's feelings brought him happiness but hesitated to reciprocate, believing her affection was for his human guise rather than his true demonic nature.
