Description
Kururun, a seal-like fairy from Grand Ocean, transitions from being the Mermaid Queen’s pet to Laura’s loyal companion. Their distinct appearance blends pinkish-white fur, a peach-hued tail, and vivid blue eyes adorned with cyan heart-shaped accents, accentuated by matching pink heart-shaped ears. Exhibiting a carefree, leisurely demeanor, Kururun navigates life at their own pace, often displaying a charming lack of intellect and a penchant for independent action.

A unique bond ties them to Ichinose Minori, the sole individual who comprehends their speech, unlike Laura and others who find their communication puzzling. Their role proves pivotal in retrieving lost items, such as a package of sweets from the Mermaid Queen, which cements their decision to join the protagonists. Demonstrating steadfast loyalty, they aid Laura by hiding during inspections, facilitating her escape from captivity, and inadvertently sparking mishaps like Laura’s accidental consumption of Manatsu’s melon bread.

During critical missions, Kururun’s instincts expose an imposter posing as the Mermaid Queen by detecting behavioral inconsistencies, ultimately revealing her captivity. Though left behind for safety in the final conflict, they witness the battle’s aftermath, reuniting with allies after temporary memory loss caused by their oceanic return. The Mermaid Aqua Pot later restores these erased memories. A whimsical dream sequence briefly grants them the non-canonical ability to transform into "Cure Kururun" using Cure Summer’s Tropical Pact and Heart Kuru Ring. Their empathetic nature leads them to offer seashell cookies—crafted from Grand Ocean’s Bubble Flowers—to adversaries like Elda, despite rejection.

In the film *The Snow Princess and the Miraculous Ring*, Kururun accompanies the group to the Snow Kingdom of Shantia, tucked into Asuka’s bag during travel. They observe events passively, maintaining their trademark detached yet watchful presence. Fondness for seashell cookies and a name inspired by "kurukuru" (Japanese for "round and round") underscore their playful essence. Post-adventures, they circle back to Grand Ocean with Laura, resuming their role as her companion upon her ascension to the throne, completing a cyclical return to their origins.
