Description
Laura is a recurring character in the surreal sketch comedy series The Fuccons. She is the twelve-year-old cousin of the main character Mikey Fuccon and is portrayed as a stereotypically bratty and manipulative preteen. Her background is that she is an American expatriate like the rest of the Fuccon family, living in Japan as part of the same expatriate community. Laura is characterized by her rude, demanding, and often cruel behavior. She complains frequently and throws loud tantrums when she does not get her way. Her parents, particularly her mother Mary, occasionally come to take her back to the United States, but Laura resists with dramatic outbursts. Personality-wise, Laura is self-centered, moody, and prone to manipulating those around her to achieve her desires. Her motivations appear to be a mix of seeking attention and asserting control over her environment, often at the expense of others. In the story, Laura plays a key role in a love triangle involving Mikey and his kind-hearted classmate Emily. Despite being Mikey’s cousin, Laura harbors romantic feelings for him and actively competes with Emily for his attention, using underhanded tactics to try to win him over. This dynamic adds a layer of absurd conflict to the series. Her key relationships are with Mikey, whom she both antagonizes and pursues; Emily, whom she treats as a rival; and her parents, with whom she has a combative relationship. Laura shows no significant development over the course of the series, remaining consistently vexing and emotionally volatile. Her notable ability lies in her talent for causing social chaos: she can turn simple interactions into melodramatic scenes through her whining, manipulation, and theatrical outbursts. Like all characters in The Fuccons, Laura is depicted as a mannequin with a frozen facial expression, which contrasts sharply with the exaggerated emotions conveyed through voice acting, camera angles, and non sequitur dialogue.
