Description
Shimei Ryomou, a fighter from Nanyo Academy, holds the rank of second strongest within the school’s Big Four, surpassed only by Genpou Saji. Her long-standing friendships with Saji and Tokubou Teifu were forged long before the series’ events. She harbors romantic feelings for Saji, while Teifu is affectionately drawn to her.
Her character draws inspiration from the historical Three Kingdoms general Lu Meng, reflecting his scholarly and military prowess through her own tactical intellect and combat skill. She is distinguished as the only fighter to have defeated and killed Unchou Kan-u in a prior encounter.
Physically, she has short dark blue hair, green eyes, and a distinctive mole on her left cheek. She consistently wears a modified eyepatch over her left eye. Her typical attire includes her Nanyo Academy uniform—a plaid skirt and brown blouse—or a blue French maid outfit. She stands 160 cm tall, with measurements of 85-58-86.
Her demeanor is predominantly reserved, stoic, and taciturn. In combat, a sadistic streak emerges, marked by pleasure in breaking opponents’ limbs and applying submission holds. This contrasts with a softer, caring side reserved for close friends. The injury that left Teifu blind and in a wheelchair deeply affected her, causing a period of withdrawal before she gradually reopened through her friendship with Hakufu Sonsaku.
She specializes in close-quarters combat, employing professional wrestling throws, joint locks, and submission techniques, often using a pair of handcuffs as a weapon. She is proficient in generating and manipulating chi for energy attacks. Concealed beneath her eyepatch, a dragon spirit resides harmoniously in her left eye—a unique coexistence among fighters. Unsealing it grants her power rivaling that of the Three Kingdoms rulers, accompanied by accelerated healing and a more aggressive, psychosexual personality. She maintains control by keeping the dragon sealed.
Her background includes a tragic and painful past before becoming a Toushi, though specifics remain unclear. Three years prior to the series, she fought an awakened Ryubi, saving her life and resulting in Ryubi’s dragon spirit taking residence in her left eye.
Key events include her initial ambush of Gakushuu under Enjutsu’s orders, leading to a confrontation with Hakufu Sonsaku. She later intervened to save Hakufu from Kouha Kannei, then immediately tested her strength against Hakufu. During their fight, Hakufu’s dragon awakened and effortlessly defeated her. Saji saved her from death, losing his arm in the process.
She participated in the great fighters tournament, seeking revenge against Housen Ryofu for a past humiliation. There, she defeated several opponents from Yoshu before facing Unchou Kan-u. She broke Kan-u’s arm but was ultimately defeated. Later, she battled fighters from Kyoshou Academy, defeating Genjou Kakouton but being easily overwhelmed by Houkou Kakuka.
A period of training under Master Chouko alongside Hakufu improved their teamwork and individual skills. She later accompanied Hakufu to Rakuyo High to help break a curse placed upon her.
In the events of *Shin Ikkitousen*, she becomes involved in a conflict with Himiko, a powerful warrior from Kansai seeking the mitama of Kanto’s fighters. She awakens in a mysterious underworld-connected location and must fight her way back to Kyoto.
Outside the main series, she appears as a playable DLC fighter in *Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash*, retaining her signature combat style, visual design, maid outfit, and eyepatch.
Her development traces a path from a solitary, often cruel fighter to one who gradually embraces camaraderie and fights for purposes beyond personal satisfaction, influenced significantly by her bonds with Hakufu, Saji, and Teifu.
