Hideyoshi, whose full name is Hideyoshi Tanaka, stands as the central protagonist of Buzzer Beater. He is a fourteen-year-old boy who grew up on the streets as an orphan, surviving by his wits and an extraordinary natural talent for basketball. Despite his young age and lack of a formal background in the sport, he would challenge and hustle adult players in street games to earn money for food. This rough upbringing forged a personality that is brash, boisterous, and supremely confident, though he can also be described as a difficult kid due to his wild and unrefined nature. He is often called "Tono" by his friends.
In terms of physical appearance, Hideyoshi is notably short for a basketball player, standing around 160 centimeters tall, with blue hair and blue eyes.
