Description
Hōsen Ryofu is a prominent A-level fighter from Rakuyo High School, identified as the reincarnation of the ancient Chinese warrior Lü Bu. She wields exceptional combat abilities, specializing in chi-based attacks and chi blasts. Physically, she has seafoam green hair typically in pigtails, a ruddy complexion, and favors revealing attire including a modified school uniform that exposes her cleavage, with measurements noted as 91-58-90. Her birthday is October 28, making her a Scorpio.

Ryofu exhibits a promiscuous and manipulative personality, frequently engaging in sexually suggestive behavior like groping Hakufu Sonsaku and Shimei Ryomou for amusement. She openly enjoys physical contact, including with Genpou Saji. Despite this, she demonstrates fierce loyalty and protectiveness, particularly towards her childhood friend and lover Koudai Chinkyuu. When Chinkyuu is brutally assaulted and raped by Rakuyo fighters under Chizen Rikaku's command, Ryofu retaliates lethally, killing Rikaku and prioritizing Chinkyuu's safety above all. Her affection extends to Saji and Ryomou in the manga continuity, portrayed as genuine and deep. The anime depicts a more contentious, love-hate dynamic with Saji, including an unsubstantiated claim of rape by him exclusive to the English manga adaptation.

A terminal illness progressively weakens Ryofu's body and limits her combat effectiveness, with doctors predicting she will not survive to adulthood. This condition drives her actions as she seeks to defy her fate while acknowledging its inevitability. In the manga, she steals the true Sovereign's Seal from Chuuei Toutaku, entrusts it to Ryomou, and declares Hakufu Sonsaku the rightful ruler. After rescuing Chinkyuu from captivity, Ryofu battles Myousai Kakouen. Her deteriorating health prevents victory, and when Kakouen attempts a killing blow, Chinkyuu intervenes. Recognizing impending doom, Ryofu and Chinkyuu commit double suicide using a forbidden technique, destroying their magatama and wishing for reincarnation as non-combatants.

In the anime, Ryofu rebels against Rakuyo and Toutaku following Chinkyuu's death. She confronts Hakufu but loses after Hakufu enters a draconic state. Defying her prophesied death, Ryofu uses a chi technique to kill both herself and Toutaku simultaneously.

Ryofu reappears in *Great Guardians* with an altered personality—shy, introverted, and devoid of her former malice or flirtatiousness—due to amnesia. Taken in by Ryomou, she is later abducted by Saji (disguised as Ohin Shishi) and brainwashed into adopting a false, cheerful persona. Manipulated to provoke Ryomou's jealousy, she eventually descends into a berserk state under Saji's control. Her true nature as a partially resurrected spirit or "living dead" is revealed; after regaining her senses, she fades from the physical world, bidding farewell to Ryomou. A final vocal "Thank You" is heard when Saji prays at her gravesite.

Her combat prowess is consistently highlighted across media. She is regarded as the strongest female fighter in the Kanto region, surpassing fighters like Unchou Kan-u. Struggles against opponents like Toukaku and Kakouen are directly attributed to her illness's debilitating effects; without it, she could defeat them with minimal effort. Her strategic acumen is more pronounced in the manga, where she acts as a skilled tactician, while the anime depicts her as a more impulsive and emotionally driven brawler.
