Nagisa Akatsuki is Kojou Akatsuki's younger sister, attending Saikai Academy's junior high division alongside classmates Yukina Himeragi and Kanon Kanase. She sports black hair typically secured in a high ponytail with a mint-blue ribbon, featuring bangs that frame her forehead and reddish-brown eyes, usually seen in her Saikai Academy uniform. Her long hair appears shorter due to the ponytail.
Cheerful and playful, Nagisa enjoys chatting, especially with those close to her like Kojou or Yukina. She sometimes misreads social cues, such as reacting excitedly to La Folia Rihavein kissing Kojou without noticing the jealousy from Yukina, Sayaka Kirasaka, and Asagi Aiba. Nagisa harbors a specific dislike for Sayaka due to a past hostile encounter where Sayaka attacked Kojou and restrained her. She addresses family members by their given names.
Four years before the main events, Nagisa suffered life-threatening injuries during the Black Death Emperor Front's excavation of Avrora Florestina. This left her in a vegetative state, requiring specialized treatment on Itogami Island. Unbeknownst to others, she was possessed by "Root," an entity that later awakened as the Fourth Primogenitor. "Root" consumed other Kaleid Bloods and triggered a mass vampire-turning incident by feeding on human memories. Kojou and Avrora ultimately destroyed "Root," but Nagisa transferred Avrora's consciousness into herself just before its demise. This act cost Nagisa her spirit-medium powers and all memories related to Avrora. Her mother, Mimori Akatsuki, became her personal physician.
Officially, Nagisa's trauma is attributed to a demon-caused train accident in Rome, a fabricated memory replacing the Avrora excavation incident. This instilled an extreme, persistent fear of demons, causing her to freeze upon encountering them. The trauma's true origin was "Root's" possession.
During the "Dawn Triumphant" arc, Nagisa utilized the ritual "Teokratia" to implant her memories of daily life on Itogami Island into the girls serving as Beast Vassal Warhead icons.
