Description
Aidan Keller is the young son of Rachel Keller and serves as a central figure in the narrative of the film The Ring Two, which is a live-action horror feature and not an anime production. Following the traumatic events involving a cursed videotape, Aidan and his mother have relocated from Seattle to the quiet coastal town of Astoria, Oregon, in an attempt to start a new life.

As a character, Aidan is portrayed as a sensitive and perceptive child, whose demeanor is often serious and withdrawn, reflecting the psychological burden he carries. He does not refer to his mother with the typical term mommy or mom, instead calling her by her first name, Rachel, which establishes a slightly distant and mature dynamic in their relationship. His personality is marked by a quiet intensity, and he frequently draws bizarre and unsettling pictures that hint at his connection to the supernatural world, particularly the vengeful spirit of Samara Morgan.

The core motivation driving the story in relation to Aidan is the survival and protection of his own identity. The ghost of Samara, who desires to live again and have a mother, sets out to possess Aidan's body. This makes Aidan the primary target of the film's horror, as his physical and psychological well-being is directly threatened. His role in the story is that of a vessel for the antagonist, transforming him from a troubled child into the central conduit for the evil presence. As the plot progresses, Aidan’s behavior grows increasingly odd and distant, and he begins to show physical symptoms mirroring those of Samara, such as developing severe hypothermia with a body temperature dropping to dangerously low levels.

Key relationships define Aidan’s arc, most importantly with his mother, Rachel. Her struggle to save him from Samara’s possession is the emotional heart of the film. Their bond is tested to its limits as Rachel must confront the terrifying reality that her son is being taken over by a malevolent entity. Another significant relationship is with the antagonist, Samara, who shares a parasitic connection with him. After being possessed, Aidan’s interactions with others become hostile and deadly; for example, he uses telepathic abilities to force a psychiatrist, Dr. Emma Temple, to commit suicide, allowing him to escape from the hospital.

Throughout the film, Aidan undergoes a dramatic transformation. Initially presented as a normal, if somewhat morose, child, his personality is gradually subsumed by Samara’s. In one of his possessed states, he declares, I never sleep, indicating the complete takeover of his being. The climax of his development involves a physical and spiritual struggle. Rachel is forced to submerge the possessed Aidan in a bathtub of water to forcibly expel Samara’s spirit from his body. After a terrifying ordeal that includes Rachel being pulled into the world of the videotape, she successfully saves her son. In the film's resolution, Aidan awakens and embraces his mother, calling her mommy for the first time, signaling his return to a normal state and the restoration of their familial bond.

A notable ability displayed by Aidan, particularly while under Samara’s influence, is telepathy. He demonstrates the power to project horrific visions into the mind of Dr. Temple, compelling her to take her own life from a distance. He also exhibits a developed resistance to water, which stands in contrast to Samara’s own fear of it, and shows an unnatural resilience, walking out of a hospital in a hypothermic state without apparent distress.
