Michihito Hibino, originally Michihito Kaguya (輝夜道人), is Matsuri Hibino's father. Initially missing at the series' start, he was later found residing in the Magical Realm. He is married to Iwau Hibino and is Eikichi Hibino's son-in-law.
Early in life, he partnered with Achihiko Omega, president of Omega Corporation, to research transforming humans into magicians. This project created the Apollon elemental. Michihito eventually left the corporation, taking confidential research data. Achihiko branded him a traitor, ending their friendship. Upon leaving, he abandoned the Kaguya name, adopting his wife's surname, Hibino.
His disappearance stemmed from relocating to the Magical Realm to continue his work. His research became crucial during the climax when Jennifer fused with the Apollon elemental. Michihito intervened, collaborating with Hughie and others to separate them. This required immense magical energy, contributing to Myamu's subsequent magic depletion.
In Episode 50, he emotionally reunites with Matsuri, acknowledging his long absence and expressing regret for leaving his family. This occurs just before Myamu's departure from the Human Realm due to her exhausted magic.
His name etymology reflects his arc: "Kaguya" (輝夜) combines "radiance/shine" (輝) and "night" (夜), while "Hibino" (陽比野) incorporates "sunshine" (陽), "contest" (比), and "field" (野). His given name "Michihito" (道人) means "pathway/person," interpreted as "the one who guides."
