Description
Kentaro Mahara is a Gunpla battler operating in the United States, distinguished by his sharp analytical mind and deep research into battle tactics. He engineered an original AI system to conduct combat simulations, methodically refining his strategies to steadily improve his skills. His background features a notable run to the finals of the thirteenth Gunpla Battle U.S. Championship, where defeat by Takuma Nagitsuji deeply wounded his pride and fueled a persistent grudge. Seeking redemption, Mahara traveled to Japan's Ayato Shopping District intending to lure Takuma into a rematch, though Takuma was absent. There, he encountered junior members of the Soukai Academy Gunpla club. After a minor physical collision with Tsukumo Shinjou, Mahara battled and defeated Tsukumo in under ten seconds. He then challenged "Mr. Gunpla," but Ichiho Seto intervened and defeated Mahara using illicit AI support. Recognizing the cheating tactic, Mahara departed with a new resolve to integrate AI into his own plans.
Months later, Mahara executed a scheme at GB Fest by hacking the Gunpla Battle Simulator system. Concealed in an elaborate masked costume, he deployed "Runner Prisons" to capture opponents' Gunpla data, holding it hostage. He dismantled the captured Gunpla and recombined them into new "Chimera Gunpla" units under his control, aiming to force Takuma's appearance. His primary weapon was the Gundam Barbataurus, a custom creation fusing the Gundam Barbatos with the lower half of a Gundam Kimaris Trooper into a centaur-like machine.
During the GB Fest incident, Mahara initially trapped numerous players, including Soukai Academy members. However, Misa Satsukino, using a vaccine-equipped Blazing Gundam, freed some fighters. After Misa identified Mahara through the Barbataurus's distinctive missing V-fin, he deployed four AI-piloted Gunpla modeled after famous Gundam pilots to overwhelm the remaining opponents. His dominance collapsed when an external hacker, Kadomatsu, reprogrammed Mahara's AIs to turn against him. Takuma Nagitsuji's subsequent entry into the battle further enraged Mahara. In a final desperate act, Mahara expanded the Barbataurus to an enormous size, destabilizing the simulator. The combined efforts of Takuma, the reprogrammed AIs, and the protagonists ultimately defeated Mahara.
Humiliated and confronted by event staff, Mahara relinquished the captured Gunpla data upon realizing the audience had mistaken his attack for festival entertainment. In the aftermath, he was compelled to undertake an apology tour to personally atone to all affected players.
