Description
Daisuke Yamamoto is the protagonist of his respective narrative, a young man whose early life was defined by a profound separation from human civilization. As an infant, he was the sole survivor of a plane crash in the Amazon rainforest, and he grew up there as a feral child living off the land, calling himself only by the name Amazon. His isolated existence was shattered when the evil Gorgos, the Ten Faced Demon, attacked a village in search of the powerful GiGi Armlet. The last surviving Inca elder, Bago, entrusted the GiGi Armlet to Daisuke for safekeeping. Using a combination of ancient Incan science and magic, Elder Bago performed a mystical operation on Daisuke, transforming him into the powerful Kamen Rider Amazon before dying. Following these instructions, Daisuke made his way to Japan.

In terms of personality, Daisuke initially exhibits the traits of a wild child, a consequence of being raised in the jungle with no human contact. For the first half of his story, his Japanese is fragmented and rudimentary, allowing him to say only a few words. This leads to a severe culture shock as he navigates the complexities of modern Japanese society, often finding himself frightened or confused by things like motorcycles or city life. Despite his wild and sometimes aggressive exterior, he possesses a core of deep-seated loyalty and a strong protective instinct. He is infuriated by injustice and the harming of innocents, which serves as the primary motivation for his actions. Over time, with the help of friends, he learns to communicate properly, demonstrating a capacity for growth and adaptation.

Daisuke's core motivation is twofold. Initially, it is to survive and to fulfill the dying wish of Elder Bago by protecting the GiGi Armlet from the forces of Geddon. As he forms bonds with people in Japan, his motivation evolves into a powerful desire to protect his new friends and defeat the evils that threaten them. He fights not only the Geddon organization but later the Garanda Empire, as they seek to claim the powerful armlets for world domination. His role in the story is that of a heroic outsider, a powerful but initially misunderstood force of nature who must learn to integrate into society while using his unique powers to defend it.

Key relationships are central to Daisuke's integration into human society. The most significant is with a young boy named Masahiko, who patiently teaches him to speak Japanese and helps him cope with the culture shock of modern Japan. This friendship is the bridge between Daisuke's wild past and his human present. He also develops a close bond with Masahiko's sister, Ritsuko, who eventually comes to understand and support him, even giving him a vest as a token of her gratitude. Another important ally is Tobei Tachibana, a man Daisuke saves from a monster attack. Tobei repays this debt by helping Daisuke overcome his fear of motorcycles, a skill essential for his battles, and provides him with crucial support and guidance. Interestingly, Daisuke also shows a capacity for mercy, such as when he saves the Mogura Beastman from being punished by his own master, an act that later earns him an unexpected ally.

Daisuke undergoes significant development over the course of his journey. He transforms from a near-feral being who can barely speak and is terrified of the modern world into a coherent individual capable of complex thought and communication. While he learns to live among people and form meaningful relationships, his fundamental nature remains that of a warrior from the jungle. His character arc concludes with him choosing to return to the Amazon rainforest, as it is his true home, though his allies believe he would return if evil ever threatened Japan again. This decision shows that while he has learned to function in human society, his spirit remains inextricably linked to the wild where he was raised.

As Kamen Rider Amazon, Daisuke possesses a unique set of notable abilities that set him apart from other heroes. His transformation is the result of a biological, mystical alteration rather than cybernetic enhancement, granting him a chameleon-like appearance. In combat, he is an animalistic and feral berserker, relying on his immense physical strength, sharp claws, and powerful fangs to dismember his opponents in a brutal, efficient manner. His fighting style lacks the formal techniques of others, instead relying on primal instincts. Among his signature techniques are the Great Slice, a powerful cutting attack, and the Amazon Kick, a leaping kick that destroys his enemies. He also possesses superhuman senses, including exceptional eyesight and hearing, and can survive and breathe underwater thanks to gills on his mask. His fighting spirit is incredibly resilient; his aggressiveness has been known to increase in proportion to the injuries he receives. Beyond his physical prowess, he is aided by his motorcycle, the Jungler, a highly advanced machine that can even respond to his telepathic signals. The source of his power lies in the GiGi Armlet, and when combined with its counterpart, the GaGa Armlet, his power is greatly amplified, granting him immunity to certain abilities and seemingly infinite energy.
