Description
Kame-Bazooka is a monster antagonist from the 1973 television series Kamen Rider V3. As a member of the Destron organization, he belongs to a class of beings known as Mechanical Army mutants, created through a fusion of black magic and advanced technology. His name is a portmanteau that reflects his dual nature, combining the Japanese word for turtle with the English word bazooka.

In terms of background, Kame-Bazooka is a synthetic life form whose origin is traced to a small, unnamed island in the Pacific Ocean. He is one of the earliest Destron monsters to appear in the series, debuting alongside another mutant named Hasami Jaguar. His primary mission, assigned by the Destron leadership, is known as Operation: Tokyo Annihilation. To accomplish this, a powerful hydrogen bomb was installed directly inside his body, turning him into a living suicide bomber intended to destroy the greater Tokyo metropolitan area.

Personality-wise, Kame-Bazooka exhibits the typical traits of a villainous enforcer. He is cunning and opportunistic, having successfully mortally wounded the hero Shiro Kazami through a sneak attack before Shiro was transformed into Kamen Rider V3. Despite his menacing role, his design and actions contain an element of absurdity, such as his distinctive battle cry which is reported as Zuu-kaa, and the inherently unusual concept of a turtle with a heavy artillery piece on its back.

His role in the story is pivotal, particularly in the narrative of the first two episodes. Kame-Bazooka serves as a direct and overwhelming threat to the previous heroes, Kamen Rider 1 and Kamen Rider 2. After the transformation of Shiro Kazami into Kamen Rider V3, Kame-Bazooka attempts to execute his suicide bombing plan. He does not directly fight the new V3 but instead battles the two original Riders, who ultimately sacrifice themselves to save Tokyo. They carry Kame-Bazooka far out over the Pacific Ocean, where his internal bomb detonates, seemingly destroying him and the Double Riders with him. This event leaves V3 to protect Japan alone, establishing the stakes for the series.

A key relationship is with his fellow Destron monster, Hasami Jaguar. The two often work in tandem; while Hasami Jaguar engages Kamen Rider V3 in direct combat, Kame-Bazooka focuses on executing the larger-scale plan of detonating his bomb. Regarding development, the character remains static, serving his purpose as a powerful obstacle. However, his legacy endures, as he appears decades later in the film OOO, Den-O, All Riders: Let's Go Kamen Riders as a member of the original Shocker organization, recognizable by his nearly identical design.

Kame-Bazooka possesses several notable abilities that make him a formidable foe. His primary weapon is the massive bazooka mounted on his shell, which boasts immense firepower capable of destroying a building like Tokyo Tower with a single shot, and he can fire up to one thousand rounds consecutively. He is also highly durable; his entire body is reinforced with a special alloy, and his shell is specifically described as being tougher than steel, rendering him resistant to conventional attacks. His most dangerous ability, however, is the internal time-delayed atomic bomb, which makes defeating him in direct combat a risky endeavor that could lead to a catastrophic explosion. Despite his offensive and defensive power, his primary vulnerability is his slow and lumbering movement, a classic drawback of his turtle motif.
